I would like to be able to play melee top laners.
Sadly pretty much every good toplaner is ranged now, so I lose every lane.

I would like to play melee top laners without getting cancer from seeing a Ryze. P.S #gutthefreelofish #nerffizz2k14 #iwantsushi
Fizz has got to go. I have no idea what Riot was thinking when they made him.
"Let's give a champion with 100% AD, 60% AP scaling Q-dash that also applies on hit effects while making the user immune to CC!" "But don't forget to add grievous wound and %missing health damage on his W, he would be totally UP without it!." "Wait! We forgot to also implement a E that makes him invulnerable 1.5 seconds every 5 to 8 seconds that also scales for more than 100% AP!"
"hmmm, maybe this 'Fizz' will be imbalanced, screw it, lets give him an AOE AP CC Nuke just to play it safe."
(Don't forget to give him damage reduction against AA as well!)
He can be CC'd mid Q dash, and his E has A 70% AP scaling.
This is a misunderstanding, I meant Veigar's Event horizon and Tresh's ult. His dash pass right through them.
hmm you seem to dislike Fizz I would like to direct you to this thread. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/NG71sAIU-when-will-riot-gut-fizz
Thank you good sir.
Didn't the old Doran's Shield make things a lot better for melees back when it blocked minion AAs? Correct me if I'm wrong.
If you want to play melee against something like ranged then play some of these champions: Riven, Pantheon, Irelia, Rengar, and Maokai. All of these champs have amazing gap closer and if played correctly will destroy ranged with an all in.
Sadly pretty much every good toplaner is ranged now, so I lose every lane.
I'm guessing you play champs like Fiora, Riven, Wukong, Yasuo and others that get countered by Pantheon and Ryze or something. You should try Renekton, Volibear, Jax, and Irelia. Teemo and Ryze can't really handle tanks like Volibear and Renekton.
As a
top, all I have to say is that Jax is fun, and **** Voli and Renekton.

lol. Are those two champs a pain for you to face or something??
Yep. Voli's too fast and Renekton's too tanky.

At least Renekton isn't as popular as he was before. >=D Renekton also use to be a pain for me as Volibear.
Have fun playing against Ryze or Gnar

Try Irelia; my experience so far with her is that she is good in any match up. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1593357430/219216356
Superb True damage, CD reset, sustain, and a ranged ult. What more could you ask for?
(Plus, laugh in Ryze's face as your passive and merc threads negate his root and out heal him by spamming R into his minion wave.)
irelia? maokai? yasuo? riven?
there's plenty of good melee tops

What?? Yasuo?? No. Put him back in mid lane. Though he's free kills for me whether I face him in top or mid after his thousand nerfs.
So do so. If you're better than your opponent you'll win regardless of matchup, and unless you're up in the Diamond 1-Master skill range you can certainly be better than them.
Oh, wait, you mean you'd like Riot to make changes to the game to make your difficult matchups favorable so you don't have to learn how to play them.
Well, as a tank jungler and poke support main who went through the age of Lee Sin and Annie Thresh Leona and went up a full league because of the learning experience, I'm sorry for your hardship and hope you try growing a pair.
Lee Sin was bad, yea - but it's not as if you didn't still have the jungle and couldn't gank lanes in which Lee Sin wasn't at.
I play support, I've seen Annie during her time of terror. It wasn't that bad. Thresh at his worst wasn't that bad, neither was Leona. Where they a pain? Yea. BUT YOU COULD WORK AROUND IT. Thresh? Learn to dodge projected skillshots and stand behind minions, peeling was still a thing. Leona? Learn to peel, exhaust, and keep your distance. Annie? Well, don't stand in such close proximity to your adc, exhaust, peel, w/e.
The ranged top lane meta isn't something you can really work around. Farming under turrret isn't a really thing, pokes for days with autos and abilities. Hard engage? All ranged tops have either strong cc or a dash. Basically, you can't fight the 1v1. Only thing to do is to hope you don't die till your jungler gets there.

As if a diamond level Darius wouldn't beat a platinum Lulu, or a platinum Garen wouldn't rock a gold Ryze. You can win any matchup by being better at your opponent. If you're unfavored in a lane, do the unexpected-roam and gank other lanes, yes, even from top. Or counter jungle with your jungler, and return to 2v1 the ranged champ. Or lane swap with your mid laner-that's a particular trick I've pulled to huge success a lot of times. People don't realize that bruisers really rock the socks off of Assassins and can end up being even bigger lane bullies than the ranged mages.
maybe a new
-like item thats viable in a midgame/final build?

More like a
for going against AP laners. Just went against a Kayle as Darius, (not Dunkmaster.) It was a hellish lane.
Honestly, Kayle is mostly a skill matchup top lane for Darius. Your Q can hit her for the bonus damage when she is able to autoattack you. Unfortunately you usually have to rush Merc treads in other to fight her.
Well duh
not dunkmaster -junghai0
Bioforge Baby!
I think it turned out badly because I am too used to getting full AD early and going super aggro. I even got Hexdrinker first not Mercs or Cowl. The idea of not going ham as Darius is very foreign to me.
As long as you are referring to AD bruisers than yes you are correct.
At least the Renekton bar is consistent with AD bruisers. I'm pretty sure that every AD bruiser is around the same level as him atm.
must have a word with you
Go back to season3!
jk , i would like to play renekton again. :(
if you want a melee top laner try galio. he shits on AP top laners.
Ive been seeing a lot of vayne top... Like wtf!?! I can only defeat her with Jayce, my best top laner. And i only win a few times, when theyre bad or im having a good game.
Pantheon is a tough matchup for Ryze, as is Riven. Irelia can be a solid matchup. Jax has kill pressure on Ryze and is one of the few champions that can outscale Ryze. In general, anyone with multiple dashes who can get close enough even after a rune prison can kill Ryze in lane (except Renekton).
Darius is actually not a terrible matchup, as his pull is longer than Ryze's AA range. The lane can snowball one way or another though.
Setting aside kill pressure, Alistar and Maokai are both very strong mid-late game and can lane against Ryze fine. Mundo does okay in lane against Ryze and scales well.
Yorick is a good matchup against anyone.
All of these melee champions do okay against Ryze. Who doesn't do okay? Melee champions that don't have any way to jump onto Ryze after a rune prison and don't have any way to farm safely from a distance. If you are trying to pick Garen/Nasus/etc. into Ryze you're going to have a bad day.
