1st Picking in Draft. . .What do I do??

I've enjoy playing draft over team build for very obvious reasons. Draft is just a better feel to it. Also counter picking and building a comp is cool. I am curious as to what I can blind pick as first pick blue side. I am now blind picking everything. Even if I go Leona support people could go something like Thresh or Janna and if they're good shut me down the whole time. If I blind pick Rumble top and get picked against by someone who is really good at Darius? I know rumble is a safer top lane pick. Tristana, a very good ADC at the moment. I have yet to win lane as trist versus caitlyn. She does more damage early so I don't trade. Except she has more range than me till like level 13 or something. I can't just avoid a caitlyns auto tangee till level 13! I don't own any mid laners I think I can blind pick. Maybe Lulu mid?

Just wanted some tips for 1st picking in que.

victor is right now the best blind pick mid and so is azir but you would like to keep mid pick for last and top and jg more to the top.

The two main strategies are "pick something you really want, and that you think the enemy might take from you" and "pick something that doesn't give away much about your comp and doesn't have many strong counters". Good examples of the first type are Darius, Rengar, and Jinx, while good examples of the second are Braum, Viktor, and Gangplank. The ideal first pick combines these two things: it's something that you want, something that they want, and something that they can't easily counter.

  1. Something that you want to make sure that they don't have against you
  2. Something that doesn't have many strong counters (or someone whose counters have been banned)
  3. A flex pick (requires a premade for the most part), for instance if you picked Kennen with the intention of going support but the enemy later picks Morgana to counter you, give Kennen to your top and pick a support that deals well with Morgana
