A reason for income runes?

- 8 Flat Armour Reds
- 1 % Crit chance red

I can still remember people use gold genning quints.
The game was slower then your gas
And support had no gold for some hats and yet the game still got played just fine
But then season 3 made me shiver with all the with all the income buffs riot delivered...
Long story short they had a good use back in season 2 when supports had so little gold income, no sightstone, no trinkets and were literally the "ward bitch" It allowed them to better keep up with the demands for wards since their only gold income was basically a few creeps that the carry might miss and assists or the random banana that last hit the enemy.
WHen Riot added sight stone, increased the passive gold generation and then added things like trinkets there became next to no point in using gold gene runes.
Wasting good early game stats for a little extra gold, could go CDR or more defense to win lane quicker. Gold Runes are pretty much out until Riot buffs them or nerfs Gold Income items
Works for certain supports with high gold needs. IMO best for people who are building a midlaner with sightstne in the support slot: Sona is a good candidate
I only use them on Blitz.
As it currently stands GP/10 runes are utterly useless because flat stats beat them until ~15 minutes into a match, and once the match goes past 35 minutes and people start hitting full build you are again behind because you don't have stats there.
Meaning GP/10 has a roughly 20 minute window of viability mid-game... assuming you haven't fed your opponent by having a lower early game potential. A single kill on you by your lane opponent is worth over half the gold those runes will give you within 20 minutes.
Not worth since ambient gold is so much higher than it used to be. They were good when that was low, before assist streaks and global shutdowns were there to give supports gold. I wouldn't mind a refund for them at this point actually...
they are not worth it for many reasons, like not being efficient enough to compensate for the stats, and that while being full build, you will be having less stats than your equivalents.
They're just horrible IMO. Yes, you can be good enough to not die even with them. But in doing so, you're having to play safer since you don't have the health you could have. This causes you to have to play somewhat more passive and even if it leads to you missing a little experience or your ADC missing a little cs, it's probably already made you worse off than if you'd just taken the more health.
I still have a page with gold gen just for Bankplank. Some times, I still hear the ghosts of HoG, Kage's, Philo stone, and Avarice whispering to me.
