So I played a custom game as Vi and really liked how she plays. I tried my first game on her in normals and went 11/7/8. She is someone I really want to play with and try in a lane. So if she is useful in a lane, what are some builds that can be used on her? And if not, and she only thrives in the jungle, what is her recommended jungle path? Any feedback is appreciated! 
Scramrail3 votesLane Vi is do-able if you make sure you play it right and choose your matchup carefully.
As an example, I played Vi in a top lane matchup against a Nasus and absolutely destroyed him, so its definitely possible to achieve success with her in lane.
Her kit provides quite a bit both defensively through shields/mobility and offensively through damage and CC. I would suggest maxing Q first, which should allow you to win most trades because of its damage potential and your passive shield.
A build you might consider would be something like: 
That would give you solid damage output, and provide ample protection from both physical and magic damage. Obviously if the enemy team is heavy on one type of damage over the other, or if a certain opponent gets ahead, you can adjust your build to compensate, but this is a nice general build I feel. Its also worth noting that is a really expensive item, so if youre losing lane and struggling for cash getting a 
or something instead would be your best option.

And these tips look very solid and i wan't to give it a try, but i have always wondered, how would you go about dealing with ranged poke heavy lane opponents? other than relying on her E-Force?. It just seems like it would be very easy to zone her away from her farm.
Scramrail3 votesLike most melee top laners playing against a ranged opponent, your only real option is to let the wave push to your tower and farm there while asking your jungler to come gank for you.
That said however, unlike a lot of other popular top laners at the moment, Vi has the ability to instantly gapclose and CC a ranged target using her ultimate followed by Q. If you focus entirely on farming pre-6 and manage your wave properly you could likely turn the lane around once you get 6, using your ult to guarantee landing your Q for some really great damage and probably force a flash. In conjunction with your jungler it would be an almost guaranteed kill against most targets early on.
Its also worth noting that you should be running with 
, so if your lane really isn't going your way be sure to utilize your TP (and roam when TP is on CD) to gank other lanes and get them ahead (while getting some gold for yourself). While you may end up losing your tower, you can hopefully assist your team in winning their lanes and picking up early dragons such that allowing your lane opponent to essentially free farm will be irrelevant.
As a last point, remember to be careful using E into the minion wave, as doing so will end up pushing the wave and leave you vulnerable to your opponent and their jungler.

She was originally designed to be a top laner, jungle was just where she worked better. Vi Mid and Top are both completely viable, I have seen Vi played mid in challenger elo before. No reason it cannot work if you use your head. Vi has oppressive damage vs squishy stuff, and vs melee champs her splash damage from e hits like a truck, while she is safely farming creeps.

You want to carry as vi then look up XJ9 dat vi build. I went G5-p1 Ez playing as a selfish vi. You can literally 1v5 with her.

No problem! You have to have his mindset to play with that build though, aka, be selfish. That build requires alot of farm with very little ganks and thats ok because you will carry your team.
XJ9 history, basically was considered one of the best, if not the best, jungler in league of legends. His play style was considered "toxic" because he takes farm however he can, even tax the hell out lanes, but he would single handy carry teams. He was perma-banned because he did some messed up shit, but when he was taken off perma, when riot allowed the forgiveness thing this year, he got to master tier in 24hrs before being perma banned again, because the heads of riot said his case was a special one and because what he did his ban will never be lifted.

Merxamers2 votesI'd say she's more viable than most would think. I don't think she'd beat, say, Darius or Garen, but she's a surprisingly strong duelist late game, and has high damage potential early. And once she hits level 6, a friendly jungle gank should result in a kill every time.

While Rengar is probably one of the worst mid lane picks in the game, I think Vi mid could work. Her splash damage allows for great harass, and because mid is such a small lane you dont need to be at their tower to hit them with it. Her Q is basically a Zed W, works great as a gap closer or escape, and her W allows her to win extended trades.
I guess the outlier of her kit would be her ult. It's a pretty hard engage which I see either working incredibly well or failing epically in mid, mostly because mid laners tend to be pretty slippery. A huge benefit of playing her mid is being able to pull off epic ganks. And we all know how Vi ganks are.

I have played with a vi mid before, accident tho, we had 2 junglers after poor communication in champ select. She actualy stomped a Zed. Was it a fluke? idk. Could have been a garbage Zed.
