Cassio or Orianna?

Hi~ I'm looking into a new AP Mage and I'm trying to decide which would be more effective. I love both champions, and will be getting both someday in the far future, but for now, which one would be better to get?

Orianna has always been good in my opinion, I always loved her kit, but I read that she is not doing too good right now, just in general. Is this true? Then there is Cassiopia who is also pretty fun, and again, I think has a really nice kit, but she's getting nerfed next patch, if what is on the PBE going to follow through. Are these nerfs significant?

Who would bring more value if mastered? Have any recommendations yourself? (⊙.☉)7

Thanks~

Orianna Because she's really safe, good pusher, you'll rarely win lane but you'll rarely lose lane too, she's really powerful in tf. And also because i don't really like Cassio, she's a late game mage only afk farm the first 15 min, and her gameplay is to stack passif, wait lategame, and spam E, i think Ori gameplay is more funny at any stage of the game.

I think you should learn cass if you like a really hyper aggressive laner and picking off people ori is safer and good in teamfights if used correctly but suffers the cassbearly game and always loses

Orianna is my main Mid laner. I chose her because she is very good in lane, and she scales insanely well into the late game. Her ultimate can change a team fights completely around. Honestly, all her moves can either help kill or save somebody. She's just overall a very solid and safe pick. She has very few true counters also. After 40 games so far this season, I can definitely say she's been my most consistent play in the mid lane.

Orianna will always be good in the right hands, Cassiopeia as well to a lesser degree imo. You should pick the one you see yourself sinking a lot of time practicing in; both are pretty mechanically and strategically demanding, but the better you get at the champion, the better you'll do as them. It's true that Orianna's overall win rate is kind of low, but if you look at win rate by number of games played (champion.gg has these statistics), the more games a player has on Orianna, the higher her win rate is to well above 50%. Cassiopeia is a similar story; both are champions that reward you the more experienced and skilled you are on that champion.

Both are great champions, so pick the one you like more. I might suggest Orianna since she's less likely to receive changes than Cassiopeia, but both are very strong when mastered and will probably always be that way, unless they actually get gutted (which I think is pretty unlikely). If you're new to AP mages, however, I'd suggest you go with someone a bit more simple, unless you're not concerned with spending a lot of time mastering these champions.

Cass is a harder carry. Her damage potential is much much higher. If you're comfortable with Cass that's amazing. But be aware Cass nerfs are incoming.

Orianna is more of a utility burst mage. Damage output is more limited. Her laning is safer to a good degree. As Orianna you need to get your full burst on the enemy carrys one way or another either by your own aim or by balling a teammate. Unless very farmed or a bit fed you won't have the damage to kill the enemy tank line yourself (tanks are strong in the current meta)

Both are good picks (Cass is the OP one currently)

Do you want awesome zone control or absurd lategame damage?

Orianna is much better at zoning. Cassiopeia is good at high levels of single-target damage.

Ori probable is the safer pick since safer laning for one and if you can master her then your pretty well off

Orianna- Strong team fight and compliments tanks/hyper carries well. She is safe in lane and a very good power curve. her damage isn't as consistent in teamfights as Cassiopeia but she can be just as much a game changer with her ult. However she is item dependent, meaning she won't have impact if she doesn't get her items before a fight.

Cassiopia- Strong 1v1 and decent teamfight. She has good consistent damage with her E however it is single target. She scales really well and because of her ability to spam E she will never not be a threat. Her range is fairly short so positioning on her can be very difficult. She has a very strong late game due to her passive giving her a free death cap late in the game.

Currently Cassiopia works better in this meta due to the tank meta and her being able to pump out a lot of consistent damage that being said Orianna is almost never completely out of the meta due to her versatility. I would say learn Orianna because she is very diverse, hard to counter and still has just as high a skill ceiling.
