It's a great situational item on against heavy health stackers.

This item is not purely for the health stacking champions. The burn, in most scenarios as Lissandra, is rather negligible. However, the stats this item provides are a rather unique combination. 300 HP, 50AP, 15 spell pen. Hold up, let's take a closer look at that last one. Spell penetration is a VERY STRONG stat, especially for burst mages. It's also good to note that haunting guise also has the spell pen. for ~1500g you get really good early stats with haunting guise, and don't even need to upgrade it until later in the game if at all. ~40 spell pen (haunting guise + sorcerers shoes + runes/masteries) early game increases your damage to targets by a large margin; Especially those without high magic resist (i.e. ADCs before they get a defensive item). All of this IN ADDITION TO the extra HP you're getting.

TLDR: I'd suggest building haunting guise early, and if they have lots of tanks, upgrading it into liandry's torment later.

It's good on Liss because her kit has a lot of crowd control like her Q (has a built in slow) which procs the 2x %hp damage over time on the Liandrys passive. But like ExiledFromBadmen said, it's only useful against health stackers. If the enemy team doesn't have a >3k hp tank, then your money is better spent on another ap item.

• 3/4 of her spells apply CC, Liandry's get's twice as powerful with CC.
• It supplies health for the short-ranged mage that is Liss.
• Liss has a short CD on her [Q], making proccing it easy.
• Liss can harass at no cost thanks to her passive.
• All of Liss' spells have AoE capacity.
