Jax -- a possible support?

The off meta support train continues it's trek around runeterra.

Hey there, Master Fledgling here.

I've always liked Jax. Never been terribly good with him, but he's really cool. He's like a mix between Tony Stark, Batman, Captain America and Spiderman -- a normal human (Maybe? We don't even know. Mysterious +2 points) with an apparent chip on his shoulder, but not so tormented by his past that he can't fool around and function in normal society. Just generally awesome.

And regardless of my skill with him, I have long wondered if he could function as a support. A hard engage via his jump, a nice, AOE stun, can just about ignore the enemy ADC if you play him correctly, has damage with just a single item and then can go tank, etc, etc. He'd not be perfect and, my guess already? He needs lots and lots of farm to be a hyper carry.

But what about just a tanky, quasi-damage support? Not quite as tanky as Leona, but a simlar idea. Not quite as useful as an Alistar, but close. Not the terrifying 'support' that is Ziggs, damage Gangplank or Fiddlesticks, but certainly capable of brawling and can build damage if he is so blessed to be in a position for it.

He's really well rounded and can be built effectively tailored to the match he is in, such are his AD and AP scalings and his natural ability to press a one of two buttons and thumb his nose at enemy damage for a notable time period.

I dunno. It just sounds swell on paper. Let me know if this has any sort of merit. I'd love to pick up my lantern again and go to work in a slightly different lane than usual.

Thanks as always,

-MF

He does not help the ADC in any way and he needs that farm to scale. Best leave him top

Seems good at first glance, but I don't think it would be that effective. I'm thinking strong early game bruisers would be preferable (more than a late game one like Jax). I've seen JarvanIV , XinZhao and Pantheon go bot with success. Winning just because of the insane damage and zoning potential they had.

i wouldn't think jax would be a good support. He needs items badly to scale, but as a support I don't see him getting enough gold.

i mean things work in weird ways.

Whenever i play Draven with a buddy he always plays support Shen and it works really well.

it is all on what you believe you can trust for an adc.

The one thing i have which with the above strategy has found, 2 ad chars bot lane is an easy build order in lane phase for any tanky support... but jax CAN build ap but idk how well that works on jax.

And i feel it is like rengar support, jump on them from bushes rinse and repeat. pretty stale but doable in right situations.

Not gunna say it is bad, there are worse support choices, but there are lots of cons for him as well.

Jax is a terrible support. If you want bruiser supports, J4 or Xin Zhao work way better.

It could work in low games. Nothing about him makes him a support (no, CC does not count). I've played Darius+Garen duo bottom and snowballed in normal games.
