Taking CS, not building sightstone or upgrading trinket because you're too busy rushing Luden's Echo.
Just call mid. Don't call support just because you want to play a mage champion that can work as a support while not playing like a support.
EDIT: I probably should have titled this post "Don't pick support if you want to play as a carry"
Off carry/5th damage threatening is just a rising trend. I play off carry support sometimes. Sometimes i don't bother getting sightstone but i keep the map supplied with as much vision as i individually can (which only amounts to 3 wards) while i build damage and support through applying massive damage to high priority targets with a low priority seat. Some people still want to harp about me not having a sightstone regardless if ive been keeping the maximum amount of wards on the map at all times. Most of the time those are the same people that have yet to buy a single ward of their own, or upgrade their own trinket, can't CS, and dont pay attention to the wards that are placed.

Why do people dislike the support role so much? I main top, but I don't mind going support. Supports save lives and set up their team for great success. I don't understand why people don't get satisfaction out of watching a teammate pull off something really spectacular and then say to themselves "I made that happen." Why don't people have this outlook more often?

What if your Marksman is bad at csing? I hate to see that siege minion go to waste. Best to keep the money on the team, right? Also, this is why I focus tank supports. If I accidentally last hit, Targon's takes care of it. I agree with you, though. I've seen ppl who "support" and don't even ward. They pretty much roam the map looking for free kills while building like a solo laner.
I know what you mean. I (a jungle main) have seriously had to recently buy Sightstone and Zeke's for my friend (ADC main), just because the support wasn't doing it.
As a side note, Nunu is fun to play. I stole so many camps from the enemy that I was begging my carries to take our camps, just because I didn't need them. I once had my ally run away from three enemies into the jungle, where I waited with my ult charging. Once they saw me, they were RIP. And then I said the all important "WINTER IS COMING" in all chat.

I don't mind if a mage plays support as long as they are building an early sightstone and PEELING. I don't think anybody thinks of anything past the laning phase in terms of the support role in many of my games.
Why would they not build sightstone? why even rush ludens? Rylais is one of the best items to rush when support, ya know after sightstone, boots and trinket.

It's not that they want to play a mage, it's just they decided to try the poke support route and failed hard at it.
Standard Poke support build, but because it's not as high on damage as they want it to be, it gets forgotten.
Just buy . You're rewarded for poking, and letting the adc cs. You don't even have to upgrade it.

correction, if you want to play a mage, then call it, but you don't necessarily have to go mid. If you're going to go full ap sona bot lane, then at least inform your team so they can understand what you're doing, and if they don't like it, they can dodge.

i support as vel koz or brand... it works well also use sion for the e to harrass/slow....never heard anyone complain about taking about 20 or so cc at the end of 15mins

That's more of an issue with the person rather than the mages. You can play support tanks and still do the previously mentioned.
