I like to play competitively but seriously...

.. How do you people stand the amount of assholes ranked attracts. Like seriously, 75% of my games include someone who's just a general asshat to everyone on his team, even if he's winning! They rage, they feed purposely when you don't agree with them and they say some of the cruelest things I've seen to date. Honestly, I've seen people who despise each other say nicer things to the other. Like honestly, I like the idea of playing at my best and working on ranking up, but seriously, I can only take so much punishment before I start to play worse and make stupid mistakes. It's like someone poking me in the back of the head constantly until I finally snap. I can't even make any meaningful progress because I can only play a few games before going on tilt. Even if I mute them I just get ping spammed and then raged at after the game anyway. Plus, in a game where communication is important, it feels weird to me to utterly ignore a player, even if they are being an asshat. Honestly, all I wanna do is improve at this game, and I don't care if I get afks, if I get people that decide to troll from the beginning for whatever reason. Heck I don't care if you just play badly, everyone has bad games. But what builds on me, is the rage, that constantly bugs me over and over until I just give up for a while.

Just mute them. Most of the time people rage is because

  1. They just want to be carried
  2. They actually don't understand the game

Ashe : OMG SONA Y NO ULT I GOT THRESH HOOKED Sona : I just ulted 30 seconds ago to get you out of ganks, it isn't up anymore Ashe : YOU PIECE OF SHIT HOW DARE YOU NOT COMPENSATE FOR ME NOT DODGING HOOK

Cultivate some emotional/mental discipline.

Step 1. Put them on ignore. Step 2. Report them at end of game (verbal abuse, harassment, etc. depending on what they were doing) Step 3. They get banned. Step 4. No more toxic players.

Also about what you said about putting people on ignore it's actually better to put someone who's toxic on ignore. Toxic players generally are not providing anything useful to the team anyway, and just get people worked up which causes them to make mistakes/play bad.

Honestly you just gotta survive the hate. Eventually you get used to it. Once you start to climb a little bit it begins to get better, but there are trolls through all ranks. Once you skin starts to thicken you learn how to deal with that kind of player, but it takes time.
