Top Lane mains, could you help me?

For some time now I have had this personal vendetta against top lane, I felt like no matter how well I did in lane it would end up in defeat for my team. No matter how much I tried to help them. I feel I need to learn this role if I ever get stuck up here in ranked. Also to get over this vendetta So I ask if any of you Native Islanders could help me become accustomed to your strange ways. For champs I like to play: Shyvana Gnar and the occasional Irelia Idk if this info is needed but I am an ADC main

One thing I recommend is not being afraid tp to another lane if you see the opportunity to thank. Do this as long as your lane is pushed up and you aren't playing against someone like Jax who can destroy turrets.
Be ready to some times play on an island. If you don't get any ganks don't be surprised. Also, your build is more flexible then if you are an adc. If you are losing lane go tanky items before building damage.

I main top lane (Singed , Nasus ) and I want to share with you how I approach other lanes:

Whenever I am forced to play other lanes, I usually pick champion that's easy to play, teamfight oriented, and doesn't have difficult mechanices.

EX: Velkoz , Heimerdinger , Soraka

Rather than trying to win lanes, my objectives for that game is to hold my lanes, letting my teammates (who got picked before me) to carry.

If you have hard time playing top lane, I will suggest you pick something that's teamfight oriented, and mechanically easy champion. So that you won't need to constantly practice that champion in order to be good.

Considering you are ADC main, I think Gnar is a good choice. I personally won't recommend Shyvana (No CC and difficult to use well in teamfight) and Irelia (Late game champion and need a lot of farm), unless you know strategy and mechanics about them well.

I just play Teemo top lane. Has kiting like ADC and Blind.

Well for one, drop the "island" thing. Its baloney. The whole spiel about "if their jungler comes top, yours can take dragon" and stuff, it doesn't pan out. Your jungler may not be at 100% hp hanging around dragon while your bot lane is also doing fine to prevent theirs from stopping your jungler. Dragon may not even be alive. And you, the top laner, are expected to bring teleport because top isn't an island. You can gank other lanes and you will be ganked.

Welcome to the island bro. As toplane you have the lowest impact on the overall game. You can win lane hard as you want, but if your other lanes lose then your opponent gets carried and you can't really do anything.

Learn to play champions that have a consistently strong mid-game presence. You're an ADC main, right? Just think of champions that make you sh*t your pants every time you see them teleport and gank your lane.
