I need help on Vayne.

Alright, so I just bought Vayne because she was on sale and I tried her out. Worst decision ever. I went on 5v5 Summoners Rift and I was literally the worst ADC ever. I went 0/7/4. Wow. Well some of the assists were basically ks, but still. So the day after, my friend said that she was improving on Vayne. I tried her again, but I went a bit better, but still worse. Afterwards, he told me that he soloed Baron with Vayne. I need help from people. Badly. I don't wanna get reported for feeding ;_;. So please atleast give me a build to follow and some strategies in laning phase.

I find Vayne one of the MOST difficult adc's to play, if not the MOST.

-- Laning phase is almost assured to get you killed if you're new with her. -- CSing is SO hard due to her short range. -- You get poked so much, even by like lucian and other short range adc's, and can't trade nearly enough pre 6 without extremely good positioning. -- Her condemn has to be a split second decision, and aimed correctly, or it's a waste with a long cd that's heavily mana expensive.

In addition, to team fight with her, you also need to MASTER advanced techniques.

-- You MUST be able to orbwalk, even with high attack speed, and alternate it with her Q to kite or chase. -- You MUST be able to time your q to not only make maximum use of your ultimate, but also dodge skill shots. -- You MUST have a front line to protect you. Your one escape is condemn. If its down, you're probably dead if caught out (unless you're super ahead). While this isn't an advanced technique, positioning with your team is, so it sorta counts. LOL.

I've seen some vayne players 1v5. And I've also seen some so bad they nearly lost a duel to a bronze cait. And everything in between. She's really tough to master, but once you do, you're practically a god.

Sadly, I don't think I know anyone that's a high level vayne expert (maybe Vayne Hentai below, if his namesake is accurate) so I don't know who to refer you to, except maybe to watch some of the diamond games in the client, see if you can find one that's playing vayne.

Watch videos on people playing them. Don't get discouraged for doing badly, you're playing a champion for the first time, you're not always going to do well. Just remember, this is a game, don't listen to what other people say, just remember to learn from your mistakes.

Vayne is a very difficult champion. Trying to main her was primarily the reason why I was demoted quite often. I wasn't good enough to master her. Many of the links people are posting are very outdated or just outdated.

Learning Vayne is difficult because you need an understanding of 1- Lane bullies 2- Hypercarries In which case if you're fresh off the boat 30 or under, you're going to have a tough time with both.

I can try to run through a 2 hour explanation and coaching on her if you're interested, but otherwise outdated videos are your only source. (Except for Peng's guide up top, that is still reliable.)

look for hi im gosu's videos, doublelift has a vayne guide, and it's basically an experience thing. in the end though, nothing will prevent you from losing when it's a 3v5 or 4v5 scenario. ward your bushes against the wall, it makes it easier to condemn when you can see them in the brush in the early game. vayne is money dependent, so practice last hitting. use q to dodge. level q, w, e then max w. rush botrk and boots.

I've been using Vayne a lot since she is in the rotation this week. I have been able to solo Baron with her using this build.

  • Phantom Dancer
  • Infinity Edge
  • Last Whisper
  • The Bloodthirster
  • Blade of The Ruin King
  • Runaan's Hurricane

I use this build when i play Vayne, and i can normally carry a team.

Start out with her W, as every 3rd consecutive hit does extra damage. Use this for poking down the enemy champ in your lane, and keep them at a distance while you farm.

Then get her Q, use it with the damage boost from your W's third strike to roll in, hit them, then quickly get away.

Use her E as you see fit, it can pin enemy's to walls, so you can use it to gank. Pin them, then use your attack damage, attack speed, and criticals to finish them off. You can also use her E to make space between you and another champ, use this for getting away, or you can use it to save a teammate.

Play like this and using that exact build in that order, starting from the top, and you will dominate with Vayne.

Good Luck

I have started playing Vayne a lot lately too and I have watched lots of videos about her and I have learned that Vayne is not very strong early game. Unless you have a Blitz or maybe Thresh that allows you to be more aggressive and maybe get early kills. But for the most part, early game I really focus on just getting cs because I think the Vayne is really just a mid-late game champ. So I always focus on getting 70 cs by 10 minutes and another 70 for every 10 minutes later. And by the time you have gotten to about 20 minutes, hopefully you've picked up a few kills by here, you will be doing a lot better.

Also, I would suggest that you go into team builder and practice Vayne mechanics because at least you won't hurt your ranked status while trying to learn her. Her mechanics actually are a little bit harder to get down than you would think. Like if you use your ult and then Q, you become invisible, make sure you do an auto attack before you use your E because if you don't your Q wont go on cd until after you auto her which then it messes with the rest of the fight. It's little things like that that I have noticed that really make the difference between a kill or a death.

Just like with a ll champs, practice, practice, practice. Mechanics take time to get down. Good luck and have some fun!

Vayne has a very difficult start and hits a massive power spike after completing the BotRK and getting some serious attack speed. her laning phase is especially hard, and you need to be willing to use condemn to get last hits when necessary, because her CS is going to be abysmal even if you're good at it.
