How not to suck at mid?

So I've been playing for quite some time and can play every role very well for my elo except for mid. If I'm top in an unfavorable match-up, I can just play non-aggressively and farm, but it always seems like a non-option whenever I go mid. I don't know, I guess it's just that mid is so vulnerable to ganks, and the enemy knows how to effectively get off big poke, and knows when they can all in. Are there any tips any of you mid players would give, or any low-skill floor champions you could suggest for me? (Really I just want a champ who I can fall to in the 1 in 100 chance that I get forced to play mid)

Try Annie Annie . She is the most broken one until now. And if you like farm and push, try Malzahar .

Warding is very important at mid since, like you said, it's very vulnerable to ganks.

Some easier mids to play are Annie and Lux. Both have good range to farm. Annie's Q refunds some mana and cooldown when it kills a unit, so you can use it to farm until you can hit 6 and blow them up.

Lux has good poke, snare, and good range to farm, and also has a good combo to blow someone up.

Unless you have a ton of mobility (ex: Leblanc) try to keep the wave frozen in the middle or slightly pushed toward your tower. Mid lane is the favorite ganking lane of junglers because of it's location and the number of gank paths available so you have to protect yourself heavily against that possibility.

Do your best to farm out. Most mids scale very well into the midgame from CS and Experience alone. Don't feel pressured to kill your opponent unless your jungler shows up to gank and you should be fine.

Play Annie. Focus on amazingly easy farming. If the jungler comes, kill your opp. if the jungler does not come just keep farming. If they are willing to take bad trades then punish, but don't look for them.

Watch this http://na.op.gg/match/observer/id=1810719917 (I think you have to have league open) Just ping mia like crazy (try to know where they are headed) and start shoving the lane.

I'd say next best choice is Heimerdinger.
