Overflow Champion Random Removal Must Be Fixed!

The Problem:

  • Your "board", where you hold champs you're not using, is full.
  • You get a champ from the carousel.
  • When you get back, the new champ can't go into the idle area, so it's stuck onto the map with your team.
  • You buy a champ to cause a two star merge. Or worse, that extra champ actually causes the two star merge instants after being shoved onto the map.
  • For some reason, the client then removes a random champ from your team from the map, probably your main three star champ with three items, putting it into the newly opened space on the idle board, instead of removing the new, extra champ.

If you don't immediately notice and swap things around, you lose a round.

And it's easy to not notice, or simply not have enough time to fix the team as the timer runs down. Especially since you may have a complex map and board so that even if you know it happened, it takes several seconds to figure out who was pulled and where he was dropped.

Of all the possible ways to deal with board overflow, this is among the worst. All of us have lost rounds, sometimes leading to lost matches, because of this insanity.

Hell, I just merged a champ and then levelled up moments after I ended up in that situation, and didn't notice that I'd lost a key champ during the merge. Lost a round needlessly, then frantically "fixed" it the wrong way...having been confused by the shuffling of the merge and the new guy. Thus lost a second round, and the match.

One obvious reduction in the problem would be to always toss the newly "excess" member onto the board if an opportunity arises, instead of a random champ. Two lines of code to flag which champ that is. Or who the last champ to be added was. Or to at least pick from the one-star champs. Or one orphaned from any team synergy. One could even set up a quick weighted guess based on these things.

Anything but yanking off what is more likely to a key three-star than the random extra one star.

I have never not seen the newest champ put on the board, what exactly are you doing with the bench..?

If you don't immediately notice

There's the problem right there. This is a game of strategy where you have to pay attention and think it through.

If you didn't notice, then you have room to improve... and that's a good thing.

What you describe is documented game mechanics. That's how it is supposed to work.
