Why is Kassadin a sorcerer when he doesn't use neither the mana nor spell dmg thing?

Spell damage affects all spells, even non-damaging ones, IIRC. This means his shield is boosted by it.

I assume he's a sorcerer because...well, he's a sorcerer. There's not really any other way to put it than Kassadin is also a mage, and I guess Riot decided they had enough assassins at the time.

Historically, Anti-Mage also had a synergy that didn't help him at all, if I remember right. It's probably because of how strong mana burn is in a game where you charge up from 0 mana in combat, instead of going in at full.
