Every match lately has at least 1 person with a 2 star pyke with spear of shojin before even the second carousel. How are people consistently getting this combo so early?
I feel lucky to have a 2 star anything and 1 item drop before the second carousel.
A lot of players are rolling all of their money early. I think this is a very poor strategy in most cases but it explains why they are finding more matches than you. Protecting a win streak is really the only reason to ever go deep on rolling that early.
I had a game earlier today where 4 different players had Kassadin 2 by the end of the first creep round. So ya, sometimes weird random stuff happens lol.
Couple of small tips: Always always always grab a 2 cost unit from the first carousel. (2 cost with negatron cloak >>> vayne with recurve bow, nidalee with spatula)
After the first creep round, you should usually sell your 2 cost unit and buy four 1 cost units, giving yourself the greatest chance to match.
Maybe you're already aware of this though :)
Generally you'd expect at leasts 2 item drops in total from the first 3 rounds, 2 star is just early XP and luck
getting 2 stars really isn't that hard when you look for pairs and only focus on getting them without worrying about what comp you are going to build yet...most people that are good do this without even rerolling and don't really care what champ it is that's getting 2 starred because they are better than any 1 star. Just use the 2 stars until you have your comp decided and ready to go and you can sell them if they don't fit or need to be replaced by someone better.
I just faced someone who had 2: 2 star champs and 2 full items and 1/2 item first fight after the first creep wave... How about that RNG? Never has happened for me though.. Lucky to get 1/2 item to drop off of the first 3 waves of creeps. Ii guess though, if rng is bending you over, someone else is being blessed by it.
