Why is it so hard to climb tft? I've climbed up to Silver 1, with only 1st/2nd place spots the past like 20 games, but man.... 28 lp per 1st place spot? And -40 something per 8th place spot? That's steep

It doesn't work the way you think it does. LP changes based on who you are playing against. I've seen anything from 20 LP for 1st place up to 101. If the other 7 players are, on average, better than you, then you will be rewarded more for a win, punished less for a loss. If you are better, then you will be rewarded less, punished harder.

If you are stuck in silver, I would recommend you are probably focusing too much on rerolling to try to get the comp you want. Instead of relying on rng to get what will win 1st place if only you get it, think about what economy decisions you need to make in the midagme so that you can consistently come out in the top 5. If you can be 2nd - 5th in every single game, you can be in plat in under 40 games (I reached plat IV on game 39). If you get 1st half the time and 8th half the time, you won't level ever.

lol wait till you get to plat you can lose up to 86 lp for getting last place and gain like 38 for getting first

Agreed! I just posted about it also! I landed number 7 because of course shapeshifter buff and glacial buff on enemy side, and lost 58 LP! But I can land in the top 3 and only get 5-15. It's a serious issue.
