Orb timer discourages play

Void2258··3 votes·859 views

I have over 24hrs on my orb, and no quests left for the week. If the orb worked like it used to (1/day), I would be encourages to play 5 today. As it is, since I won't get anything from it, I am now waiting for the orb to refresh as there is no reward outside of orb points for me to work for right now. This is in contrast to regular league, where I am always earning xp toward things no matter what. Please change the orb structure to encourage play, rather than be a disheartening timer holding you back from rewards.

I'm kinda the opposite way, especially since the ranked season was ending. I didn't have time to do some TFT while playing to get to gold and plat. But this was a radical change, from 5/day to 5/3 days. It'd be nicer if it were say 8 games/3 days, for me at least.

At this point they are encouraging more occasional players but also discouraging frequent players. They need to go to a more even reward system, like league. Just get stuff for playing, no time gating. If you play a lot, you get a lot. If you play a little, you still get some. Trying to force a play pattern just annoys one side or the other of the frequency argument.

I feel this ignores the whole reason they do this, though.

The point is to try to get people to play, yes. But if you're only playing for rewards, and they let you collect them in the first couple weeks by playing a ton, then they lose players after they patch and need data again.

Like, you're right. It annoys people. But their goal isn't to make people play as much as possible, anyway.

I think the point then is they need a continuing reward instead of these limited things. No one plays a game that gives them nothing.

No one

Definitely not true. Lots of people will play for fun, rather than rewards. If it isn't fun for you, particularly, that's ok!

your post further confirm set 2 is not addictive to play.

Set 1 was addictive. Set 2, I kinda have to force myself to play it for the rewards. There are some nice concepts here, but there is an X factor I can't put my finger on.

It is definitely an issue. Add that to this set being worse than the last, makes me want to play even less. More time for something else at least :)
