LP is even more meaningless now than it was before - Just go back to displaying MMR

TFT Ranked - What are we doing for Set 2 Rise of the Elements?

A hard LP reset and soft MMR reset make absolutely no sense. How is it a good idea to have players with vastly different MMRs sitting at the same LP? There was already potential for LP and MMR inconsistencies in the old system. Now there's a complete disconnect that might take hundreds or thousands of games to rectify.

I didn't even realize this was done until I climbed through lower LP ranks at a significantly slower pace than I climbed last season and started wondering if I actually got a lost worse. How are players going to gain LP more quickly if they are playing against players of the same MMR? It seems like the player base is being treated as if it were stupid and wouldn't figure this out.

I can't understand even a little how someone thought this LP/MMR system was a good idea. Please stop trying to over complicate things that are incredibly straight forward and just show us our damn rank.

I know this is a TFT post... But Riot already does this in Ranked solo/duo on summoner's rift. On a fresh account you will start out with gold 4 MMR but you will be placed bronze after your 8 (I think it's 8 now) placement matches. And then you get +30 on a win and -5 on a loss.

Riot's goal: to make you play more games.

That's it. They want you to play more games and hopefully spend more money. They don't care about the integrity of the ladder.

You mean it doesn't make sense to have diamond+ players in iron that have to win against other diamond+ players to climb to fucking bronze?

No idea who thought this made any sense, but god damn is it stupid. Why do I have to get 1st like 20 consecutive times against players my own skill level just to climb to where I belong according to riot's own matchmaking? Why is it easier for a brand new account or even a bronze player to climb to gold than it is for someone who was previously challenger?

Like, I might understand it if you at least had disgusting LP gains, like 200-300+ per game, but you at most go up one division for a first place finish.

I feel like a hard reset was needed. The last season of the tft "beta" was full of bugs and op unbeatable compositions like locket mages, ninja assassin akali, knight + carry. So the LP gains may have been inflated or inaccurate for the skill level.

This set 2 of tft, even though it has some annoying things, there are multiple viable compositions, it takes more understanding and work around (I won't say skill), and I'm not seeing anything particularly unbeatable.

The unfortunate part for me is that tft doesn't take that much skill in the first place, and people can just copy the viable comps from streamers or tier lists to win. Maybe this doesn't matter for the galaxy brain professional players, but for a player like me who is average/casual, it makes ranked unappetizing. Oh, you went that standard composition and got three tier 3 units? Alright, you beat me. [slayer-pantheon-popcorn]

I'm too lazy to read the article, but generally Riot does these rank resets to encourage (force?) people to play ranked. Otherwise everyone would eventually get stuck at their peak rank and burn out. With these resets players try to at least climb back to their old rank.

This LP pseudo rank bullshit is ridiculous.

that might take hundreds or thousands of games to rectify.

There's your reason.
