Illaoi is not balanced at all

BigIdea·6/23/2016, 12:19:53 AM·19 votes·3,306 views

Why can illaoi can go 0-3 in lane, fall behind 50+ cs, be down 3 levels, and still be able to not only survive the rest of the lane phase but also outduel the fed opposing laner by hitting 1 e? This champ is horrendously balanced.

EDIT Spare me the 'don't stand still in the middle of her ult' advice please. I do actually think when going in for trades.

been surfing youtube and twitch for high elo matchups against illaoi. in a large majority of games, dyrus, box box, sickmotion, hashinshin have all gotten beatdowns playing renekton, riven, jax, volibear, irelia, etc against illaoi. did not see them do anything particularly wrong. it's just incredibly difficult to trade favorably against illaoi. people will realize she's broken eventually.

I agree with the OP. Illaoi is OP.

Because she is mastery yi 2.0. Hit her with CC and she melts. If someone gets out-dueled by an illaoi that behind, they might just want to uninstall or not sit next to her tentacles.

Illaoi has a lot of counter play in her kit.

For example, playing against her in lane may suck. A lot. However, she can't just tp bot and destroy because she hasn't set up her tentacle army down there, making her immobile and weak.

Often times, she has to flash just to get an ult on more than one person, and any small form of cc stops her from casting it but still puts it on full cd.

Yes, she's strong. Yes, she has a ridiculous amount of sustain. But to say she's broken or under-balanced may be just a bias against her on your part.

illaoi isn't the only champ that can do this, especialy out of toplaners. This is nothing new

She can be good, but it's hard to really support the "she's OP" argument when I usually see people just standing in her ult for the full duration drooling out the mouth. WALK AWAY AT A MILDLY BRISK PACE AND YOU'RE FINE PEOPLE.

because you have no idea how to dip instead of dive.

The problem with her is that she sometimes catch you on her soul-away skill and you have to w8 for tentacles to kill these. You are wasting CS and exp, and its pretty OP. Champions that may outsustain her are pretty good. I could recommend you Yorick. He is spamming her W, E and when she uses ult just press Q on minion and run away before tentacles will hit u. She is rly angry when some1 flee from her ult.

Well to be entirely honest Illaoi has massive counterplay built into her kit alone, dodge the tentacles, dodge 90% of her damage.

She ults? leave the ult area and make the ult useless, that's like whining u dueled Zyra while standing in the middle of all her plants..

Bait the ult, back off and chill. Then proceed to kill Illaoi 10 seconds later. Oh yea, don't get hit by the E either. I don't think Illaoi is strong, much less broken.

Teslium6/23/2016, 12:37:06 PM2 votes

Well, many champions can do that. Here you have some examples. Aatrox Zed DrMundo Irelia Fizz Anivia Malphite Lissandra Swain XinZhao Vladimir Velkoz and so on...

I think the main factor because she is that strong is that the most players dont understand or know their mechanics.

been seeing more illaoi bans the past 2 days. about time.

I wouldn't say OP, but my Lord she is one of the most un-fun, frustrating champs I've ever faced. You literally just can't teamfight when she's on the other team, because she just hur dur walks in ults and bye bye team. You are forced to pick a heavy disengage/mobility team against her (cause we needed the game to force mobility even more). And if you do pick a ranged/mobile top laner, her life just becomes unfun because now she can't do anything. She's an interesting design.... but she should've stayed that way: a design. Cause as of right now, her playstyle is too binary and not fun to play against.

Not knowing how to play against a champ with such clear "win" conditions =/= "this champ is broken because they were so far behind yet can still kill me!!"

1- Illaoi is not like Darius or Garen or Da Croc ... she doesn't NEED an early lead to be useful later. She scales with the game (not unlike Susan but clearly different and not as bull shit as him). So yeah, when a Garen is behind or goes even he's useless or close to it for the rest of the game and can only build full tank in hopes of being a dmg magnet. If Darius doesn't get fed he is far less useful and if he gets behind he's useless. Illaoi isn't like that, if you're ahead and STILL decide to face tank her ult next to some tents she WILL hurt you cause it's her win condition, it's what her whole kit is built around. It's like standing inside of Donger's bots ... sure, you can do that. But when he ults and takes you with him (or just kills you as he uses his ZHG to survive with a tiny bit of HP) it's your own fault. Her being behind doesn't change that. Same with Susan, you shit on him and kill him twice? Good ... don't take his tower though, force him to come to you for farm and zone him from it because it doesn't matter how hard you stump Susan, if he cane freeze the wave outside a Tier 2 tower he will get the stacks and farm he needs to become a raid boss later and if you let that happen he WILL kill you.

2- Illaoi's win condition is clear as day and should be respected. I've played her into Cho twice so far and I LOVE IT. He bullies you as he mindlessly pushes with E on to harass you/ zone you from AAing minions. He heals up Q slaps with his passive. You don't have the dmg or burst to kill him. This all goes to the players head for the first few levels ... so at level 6 they think they can just still shit on you only to find out that you're one of the best duelist in the game when you ult and Cho can't handles bursty duelist (I know this from fighting a Aatox top as Cho. Bully him all you want, as soon as he gets Lifesteal you can't do shit to him).
