Feedback for Teamfight Tactics
Ok, played a bit now. These are initial impressions on some things that I think would make the game better from that perspective. It's possible some of my opinions here may change as I play more.
- Show details in the carousel. I often have a very hard time seeing who all the characters in the draft carousel are, and I can't look up either the character or the item. While this will no doubt be less of a problem as I get more familiar and start memorizing things, it's the only point in the game where it's not 100% clear what champs are available, what the items the have do, what they class and type are, etc. if we have all the info in game everywhere else, we should have it here too.
- It's too easy to accidentally touch the wrong champion in the carousel. The collision radius can be bigger than it appears, so you accidentally pick up walking past and such. Since there is no way to "let go", this can ruin what would be a successful round as you get junk instead of what you needed.
- There doesn't seem to be a particular point to having to move around your legend to collect things on the field. Why not just put them right in the inventory? Your legend is basically a ghost as far as the rest of the game is concerned; this just seems random and pointless. Really, the fact they move at all outside of the carousel seems superfluous.
- It's very awkward trying to go through and look at the arrangements of all the other players one by one. Some better way to get an idea of what your opponents may be doing would be nice. Right now it's a bit starcraft, in that how well you position depends on how fast you can click and how long it takes you to register your opponents setup. Most of the time it seems like people are just picking a config and sticking with it since it's so hard to quickly adjust. It just makes it more of a race than strategic.
- It was several days in before I even knew I could look at enemies before a round. The game does not indicate it at all. Up to then, I thought it was just a matter of guessing and getting lucky. And it still kind of is due to the awkwardness of looking.
- This may turn out to be my ignorance, but at this time it seems like T5 champs are a noob trap. The game HEAVILY emphasis getting 2 and 3 stars for champs, and T5s are rare enough and come in late enough you rarely get 2, let alone 3. As it appears to me as a new player, it seems like a higher star of any lower tier character is going to be more worth the slot, even with the higher basic stats and pretty crazy abilities (which you don't even always get off since 1 stars tend to die fast by that point).
- The stat system is completely opaque in-game; you have to go to the internet to find out what any of it means. It would be nice to explain this to beginners instead of assuming they will wiki everything.
