No. I don't see any purpose of finishing 8th every game.

probably because he just wants to spam losses for the rewards =/... If you are 100% afk the entire time yeah you probably could get some sort of punishment.

Queue four people, three end last, fourth player has a much better chance coming in first.

So do the other 4 players that you aren't queued with. All this does is increase everybody's odds from 1 in 8, to 1 in 5. It doesn't favor any one player.

As for the OP's question: TFT is a free-for-all game. Even if you're queued with friends, you're still a solo player in the game. Ending last or even being afk doesn't directly affect anybody else's gameplay.

Oh good point.

Correction: wouldn't TFT be a player vs all game? Because in a free for all setting, you can form unspoken alliances with opponents. In TFT, you don't know who you are about to face (at least I think I don't play it often).

But what if you put your champs to the afk zone before facing a friend (if you can tell who you are about to face), so you can minimize the damage done to each other when one wins, then loading your champs back to the board before facing others. Basically, instead of turning the game into a 1 in 5 to win, you make it easier for the 4 of you to make it to the finals.

If you knew who you were about to fight, you could indeed bench your strong units. Which is why matchmaking is random & why they leave your next opponent a mystery.

I suppose if you & your friends were the only players remaining, you could artificially decide who gets first, but this means you would need first to knock out all of the random players, whilst both/all/some of you still surviving.

The closest I can imagine to "teamwork" would be coordinating your choices on the carousel & picking different team comps so as to not thin the champion pool for each other, but these are somewhat marginal tactics which may ultimately have negligible impact on the eventual outcome.

TFT is a battle royale FFA.

Even for ranked this doesn't really matter. If one person is consistently getting top 4 while the others are consistently getting bottom 3, they will not be able to queue together for very long.

I doubt it, given this really doesnt affect anyone else.
