A request for PBE

When a new champion comes out for testing on PBE, make a special one for all version for that champ. Everyone on PBE wants to play this champion, only to have someone pick him faster. Give this option so that so many more could play with this champion, and enjoy said champion.

This would actually also be a great way to increase iterations on abilities/bugs as well, 10x more testing per game and all. Naturally that's not exactly the case but still.

One problem though, for a lot of champs they need special interactions and coding for one for all mechanics. Like Syndra for example, either coding to allow for control of other spheres or a a way to differentiate your spheres from others. Naturally this will be more or less difficult based on the champion's kit, and could be used later when one for all comes back for live, it's just the matter of "is it worth the extra time?". It very well could be, I don't know.

Some bugs are only with certain champ combinations. Allowing everyone to have the same champ would make testing worthless.

It would increase iterations on abilities and their interactions with non-champion assets like jungle, towers and minions, as well force non-ideal builds, giving more exploration of options. I agree that it would have the drawback of not allowing for interactions with other champions, and as such I'm not suggesting to temporarily replace a que or anything. It would be different and possibly ideal, but saying that input is worthless is a bit of rushed opinion don't you think?

To just say worthless, you be right. But to explain why he is wrong and the reasons why should be done. There is a huge flaw in the thinking on the OP part. He wants to be able to try the new champ out. Not bug test. His runs over the reason of the PBE.

If you can't play the champion, you can't run tests on them. It's enjoyable, and you'll spot problems with the champion, both in power and in coding. That's my logic.

You can test your interactions with the champ. There is more than just one pov that is needed. What if vaynes sliver bolts are not procing or bruams passive not working with the champ.

Riot needs to use as many other champs against a new release as possible to see any weird interactions. 4 new champs on one team shows nothing of value for the normal server. PBE is for testing to move to the real envrioemnt. Breaking the code to allow more people on one champ per team defeats the purpose.

It could defeat the purpose when trying to see how he stacks up, but not the purpose of trying to find bugs with his/her/its mechanics. It's a serparate way of testing that may recieve too much attention, but it could work. Please understand that this was a suggestion, and nothing else. It was up to riot, not the players, to see what they think of this. They do need as many points of view as possible when seeing if they're balanced or not, but bugs are (perhaps) easier to spot when it can happen around 10x as much.

this should be on the PBE boards.

Also PBE is not so everyone can play the new champ. Its to test the patch, if you are their only to see the new guy you have access for the wrong reason.

I was going to post it on the PBE boards later. Will do now.

Interesting... Good idea

Angry Monster1 votes

how is this a good idea? It breaks the idea of PBE.

ChaosThief1 votes

Not exactly breaking PBE, but not following the usual formula. It's a different way of testing that could prove useful when trying to find bugs in the character's mechanics, but not very useful to see how he/she/it stacks up against enemy players using other champions.

But you are making the game do things that would not happen live. That is why i call it breaking the pbe. You are testing things and code that you can not use for live.

Shouldnt this be on the pbe forums?

ChaosThief1 votes

It is on the PBE forums. I have a separate thread here since I thought that the PBE forums may not have as many people responding, but I have recieved a few responces there.
