Riot, please consider gating Ranked with wins instead of just level gated.

Been playing this game since the end of Season 1. Religiously played with game for 3-4 years, then took a break from this game for a month or so last year. I didn't have any interest in rank for the longest time because I knew I was ignorant and bad. It wouldn't be fair if I jumped straight into ranked and ruined my team's chance of winning due to my ignorance of mechanics. I didn't play rank till the beginning of S3, managing to climb up to plat 5 with Viktor, then immediately took my break from the game Now I have to work my way back up from silver.

Rambling aside, I have some lengthy experience with this game. From both first hand and hours spend watching livestreams of Diamond/challenger games. Speaking with that behind me, I would like to give my feedback on how to help fix rank in my opinion. It won't be the miracle fix that will solve all the toxicity contained with in it, but its a much needed change in my opinion.

Rank is currently gated only by requiring level 30 and needing 16 champions. While this seems to be a fair way to gate people, in practice over my time in ranked and watching ranked games, it appears to be lacking. I've encountered many players, both ally and enemy alike that honestly did not understand what they were doing. They didn't know the concept of map awareness, pinging, talking (NOT flaming wishing cancer on someone), warding, Last Hitting, roaming, ganking, etc etc etc. Some of the base mechanics of the game that you NEED if you wanna be a decent player. That's with out including that some didn't understand the potential of the champ they were playing as well.

This all stems from inexperience. There are a lot of people that will immediately jump into rank as soon as they're able to access it. This is bad. Because a lot of players who meet the current requirements (Level 30 + 16 champion pool) are honestly not ready for rank. They have poor mechanics but have their hopes raises and are falsely led to believe their ready for rank because they bought 16 champions and reached level 30.

This is bad. Normally I don't care what people do in games. Like Starcraft for example. You have barely any hours and don't fully understand how to play, but want to play ranked? Welp. GOod luck. I don't care because its a 1 v 1 environment.

I care in THIS GAME because its NOT a 1 v 1 environment. Its a TEAM based game. Its unfair when a group of experienced players get matched up with an inexperienced player. Their chances of having a good game or winning go down immediately solely because of the inexperienced player. This in turn agitates the other players. Some more so than others. To the point that they'll lash out and vent their frustration on the inexperienced player. "WOW DUDE. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL MIA? WHY DID YOU JUST TOWER DIVE THEM. WHY DID YOU GO IN?" Etc Etc Etc.

This in turn frustrates the inexperienced player, lashing back out at the others. All in all, it breeds a toxic and unfriendly environment. This can more easily be avoided if ranked not only required the level limit and x champions, but also required x amount of normal DRAFT mode wins. Something like 300-1000 wins. Personally I would prefer at least 500, but what ever.

This not only helps eliminates the inexperienced players from Ranked, but it can also help stifle smurfing. Smurfing is in my opinion, the same problem as inexperienced players joining ranked games, but for the opposite reasons. Its unfair when someone of much higher rank/experience joins into lower rank games. Making them lopsided more often than not. People would be less tempted to smurf if they had to get X amount of wins with their smurf in order to take it into rank.

I would love to hear feedback and have a discussion on this. Especially from Riot themselves and how they feel about rank in its current state.

tl;dr: In addition to requiring 16 (or more champs) and being level 30 to play rank. Make it so that the players are also required to have X amount of normal DRAFT mode wins. 300-1000 could be good.

300 seems a bit high. I'd recommend 100 Draft wins max. And even is this somewhat cleans up the Ranked environment, essentially all it does is shift the problem to Normal Draft. There would still be smurfs (fewer perhaps, but there would still be some) stomping through less-experienced players on their way to ranked, actually delaying entry to the newer players.

I see I've been downvoted but no comments. Unable to argue why my idea is bad?

Fuck draft mode normals..... I haven't been able to do one of those in months because the dodges are SO common. 300 wins would take so damn long. I gave drafts a shot a few weeks ago and after 5 back to back dodges I said fuck it and went to team builder to practice.

I love the idea of making it harder for people to smurf in ranked as well.

"I'm a plat smurf, let me X role and I will carry"

I get this about 2/5 games daily in silver 5. Do I believe them? No. I can tell when we're in the game if they belong in my division, however.

Like when I see an Udyr running one of the most insanely efficient runepages/masteries geared toward that champ... and 90 cs off of jungle camps compared to me or the average junglers 40-50 cs.... I know something is up.
