ARAM.
Why do so many people dodge for ARAM?
If I ever que up for it, I find myself having to go through multiple champ select screens because people keep dodging.
Why are people taking it so seriously lol.

There could be several reasons
Realizing they wont have time for the game because they have to go to work/school or another situation similar
Getting the same champ several games in a row (I've gotten Graves/Twitch/Varus legit 3 games in a row :l)
Someone in Champ select wanting to trade for another champ (for example they have Mundo and someone has Nidalee or Lux and they try to trade to get it) and the person declines so they leave cause butt hurt.
Getting a champ that you just really hate, like have a severe hatred for the champ but have them because reasons.
I'm sure there are other reasons but those are the most common I believe. I'll be honest if I get a champion I severely dislike after having games before it as champs I dislike I'll not play cause it isn't fun for me. I'm not talking about getting OP champs just champions I like to play. That could be said for anyone, it isn't fun if you're playing a champion you just don't like (and have no re-rolls cause you used them to get off a different champ you don't like or used them in the previous match for reasons)
"Why do people dodge?"
Well, here's why I do sometimes:
A) One of my teammates rolls a champ that's just plain unplayable. EG Bard. Bard has a 37% win rate on ARAM. Having one on your team is like your opponents having a freaking Sona, before the game even starts.
B) The comp is just asking to get hosed. Namely, no waveclear, or a team full of tanks that can't even build to do damage if they wanted to. Or a team that's 5 short-ranged ADCs. Or any number of other things that'd basically mean "you can dodge and sit out fifteen minutes, or you can get your teeth kicked in for twenty and feel terrible."
C) Because you got stuck with a free week champ that you have no clue how to play. Why sit through that?
It isn't just "ohh, I didn't get a GFG comp, dodge". Most comps these days are playable because of mark/dash + warmogs. If you're useless early on, then just sit tight, be patient, get a tank item, then a warmogs second, to stop the bleeding. A lot of melee champs are now much more effective now that they can get in, while poke champs are still potent, and a well-played support is still all sorts of godlike.
They dodge because Rito refuses to fix dodge penalties.
It resets every day. No punishment even if you dodge 1000 games in a row without completing a single one in between. No system to auto-apply harsher penalties, lower queue priority, or apply bans for RAMPANT repeat dodging. Just free forgiveness on a 24 hour cycle.
It doesn't affect matchmaking at all. They get to scum for freelo with no consequence. Didn't roll a free win? dodge. MMR preserved. It's the reason you get such horribly sucky teammates on all the OP rolls. They are unskilled dodge-scummers trying to ride the freelo without knowing how to actually play. They don't belong in your level of game by any means, but now that they cheated to GET there they stand absolutely zero chance without continuing to abuse Sona-tier champs.
They have multiple accounts. When you can just play on a different account instead of waiting out your penalty, the penalty might as well not even exist. Riot refuses to have these penalties pause while you are logged out.
Out of 1,000 ARAM games I've only dodged one. But it does happen all the time. I wish this is what happened instead:
For example...
Your team has their picks/rolls, one person on enemy team dodges, everyone goes back to que...
BUT INSTEAD
If this happens instead of tossing all 9 people back into the mix to get all new picks/rolls I wish the game would just add one random person waiting in que to the enemy team. Maybe you all get an extra 20 seconds to trade or whatever. I just hate having a good pick or good team comp and one person dodges and you have to do it all over again.
Because when I play aram, I think of it as the last game I'll play only if I get the champ I want. So, if I don't get the champ i like, I just dodge it and turn off the league.
