Reworking The Crystal Scar Into Shurima

Ever since the Shurima update, its subsequent lore updates to those desert champions and Ascension, I've wondered if the Crystal Scar would eventually be reworked as a location in Shurima. Since the Crystal Scar was, and possibly still, is Skarner's home (who now lives in Shurima as a matter of fact), it only seems right, doesn't it? The new Rift has been out for some time now, and though the Crystal Scar doesn't receive as much play as the Rift, maybe a good rework is what it needs; sometimes I myself can't bring myself to play a champion if its visuals are outdated (I'm sorry, but I said it).

Maybe the Crystal Scar could even be the ruins of Shurima's capital, still devastated by Xerath's battle with Nasus and Renekton.

I do think a Shurima-based visual update for CS would be a great part in helping improve dominion's player base, ~~but Riot wouldn't want to do that~~

You do realize how long the SR update took, right? updating a map or making a new one takes a TON of time because they have to make the map, fix the collision detection, apply textures, make new ambient music, balance the AI units and structures, etc. That is the Reason Magma chamber never came to completion, and why the SR update was on PBE for almost 5 months.

Yeah I know it takes a long time to actually do. I'm not complaining about a CS update taking too long. I'm complaining about not getting anything about dominion being changed besides "yeah we're listening to you guys" about 3 months ago. Some kind of somewhat regular updates on what they are trying to do with dominion would be nice, even if it wasn't anything they could put in yet. Something more to know they actually are listening to us.

Ah, yes, I see what you were referring to. I agree that it is pretty sad how Riot basically doesn't do anything interesting for any mode other than SR. If they started an LCS league for dominion or TT, then maybe they would have a reason to direct some of their attention towards the other maps.

a pro scene for the other modes would accomplish everything that keeps them from doing more with them. I've been thinking about it for a while, and it would be really cool if there were some dominion and treeline games between LCS matches, or even just on the official stream on days that LCS isn't happening. Or streaming a small tournament. It would get people to see what these modes can be like at the highest level, and would get people interested in playing them more.

I know there were the Dominate Dominion tournaments, but those weren't done by Riot

There shouldn't need to be much change I think.

Afaik Kalamnder is situated in a valley in the great mountain range that separates Demacia and Noxus from Shurima.

The valley is open towards the desert, that's why it could be covered in sand every year. and the magical properties of the place is reason enough for Xerath to take base there.

Even the Braken can keep the lair below Kalamander, while making Skarner a resident of Shurima, if the lair opens at the food of the mountain on the south side.

I would love if they did this honestly.

Personally I don't like much how Dominion plays, but if it at least looked better than it currently does I would get into it a bit more.

Thats actually a good question, one I dont exactly have an answer too.

It's taken me a long time because I've been trying to think why I dont like it much. I guess it just doesn't feel fun? Or "right"? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Champs aren't balanced or designed with the gameplay style of Dominion in mind. They're more designed for moving forward or backward towards an end goal to destroy, which is how classic SR and ARAM work, and not to constantly move around capturing different points and controlling them.

Like I said I'm not sure. I wouldn't think that would be that big a deal, but it may be.

Better than asking "Why?" would be to ask "Do you know how to play Dominion?" (not offensive, I hope). I'm finding a sad increase in the number of people with 800+ wins that still cares about the score and have no idea about what to do. They simply dislike it because they don't know what to do (like Noctes setcoN's answer) and when they know they'll mostly find 4 other players in their team that don't do and will flame him when he tries to help teamates. That said remaking CS to be Shurima may be cool as long as they don't turn the whole mode into Ascension that would be ignored by the community even faster than Dom was.

Since the ret-conned the old lore, and the Institute of War no longer exists, it would be a nice way to tie up some of the lose ends

I can't remember the last time I played dominion (I lied, Ascension was when I played it last :p), so I'm all for a Shurima theme with the shurima palace in the background and maybe a few giant tunnels a la RekSai .

you will forget that map again so why bother making it... ranked is the most important thing on league of legends and a little bit of aram. poor TT and dominion maps XD. And btw idk why you guys don't play more dominion, i like it a lot and its fun about the theme of the map i don't really care to be honest. but still IF tis happens you'll will forget that map again XD

Azir : because its the WILL OF SHURIMA as for why no one plays it, I think its more that there isn't an official championship for that mode, so no one really thinks much of it since it isn't the "main" mode. A great way to fix that is for worlds to host a championship for each mode with a trophy for each, kind of like the Olympics has multiple events.

idk what you're saing XD but i think that a map with 6 batleground arenas 1vs1 it would great, 10 players in the game to fight 1vs1 until the last stage of the map the real winer would be the one thtat wonn al matches. this could be a good shurima theme map

what I'm saying is instead of JUST having a normal 5v5 match at the pro championships, they could have all 4 maps (dominion, TT, ARAM and SR) with their divisions and such. that might spark more of an interest in the other modes and get people playing them more often.

My question is:Where is the new SR in Runeterra?.....................Oh wait,there is no SR in Runeterra.Well,that's no reason to not put it somewhere in the world.Right now it on top of some giant plateau in some mountainous region somewhere.

If we got ranked to attract back the old high-elo players, and actually FEATURED them properly, it could help people actually learn how to play in their own ranked games. The one thing Dominion needs is more awareness. Problem is, Riot spent SO much effort trying to cover up and bury the community's efforts to promote it themselves when they WERE doing that, most have left.

This is an excellent idea. i've been playing crystal scar lately and i find myself getting bored of the visuals. I love the new SR update and how much newer it looks. Aram and Crystal Scar could get a nice update as well. Riot should listen. {{summoner:2}}
