Suggestion for Aram

Everyone knows aram. It's a fun little game mode. Sometimes it's a stop, sometimes you just utterly lose and there's nothing you can do about it. But is that fine? I don't think it is. I was fine with aram being something you did with friends to be goofy. But now that it's a real game mode I find it pretty annoying that I can que up to have a bad time and do literally nothing, despite the reroll feature, it punishes players for having a larger champion pool.

So I thought about what could be done to improve it, and I wound up with nothing. You can't do aram as it stands and make it fair without making it not aram. It's just a bad game mode that promotes a random experience and any attempt to fix that will make it not aram anymore.

However, there is still hope. I've never been one to look too hard at Dota 2. I play other mobas, but really I find League brings the experience I am looking for without the headache that I'm not. I played Dawngate for the short while it was around, loved it, sad to see it go. The point is, a friend recently told me about ability drafting in Dota 2. I was curious so I looked this function up, and immediately I realized that this could lead to a solution for the aram problem, where you can get stuck with an absolutely unfun and horrible pull while still retaining the random aspect of the game mode.

So here it is, pretty much just steal it from Dota. Not sure why it wasn't part of the game to begin with. Ten random champions are given to the players, but all their abilities including passives are placed into a pool to draft from. Players take turns drafting abilities, and the only limit is one ultimate per champion. You get to build your team and you can better spread out the abilities across all champions. This leads to less frustration and unfun games because someone got stuck with Udyr eight times in a row, and it lets champions have more control over what they get to do style wise. I think THIS would really make the game mode fleshed out. In fact, you could do it as a featured game mode just to test it out and see what the reaction would be.

I'm just imagining the unholy terror that would occur when a champion ended up with Lissandra's E and Galio's ult. I think that this could be fun, but it would also be very confusing, since the animations for each ability don't exist (Riven has no animation for Karthus ult); I don't know how DotA manages this.

But now that it's a real game mode

But it's not. It is in no way shape or form a serious game mode. Its for blowing off steam and doing all the stupid stuff you dont want to do on Summoner's Rift.

Dude, it's not a serious game mode. If you can't have fun playing the mode that is not supposed to be taken seriously at all, I feel bad for you. Who cares if you get wiped? I still have a ton of fun charging into battle knowing I'm going to lose. If you have to always win to have fun in ARAM, stop playing it.

Some of us WANT ARAM to be taken seriously. We don't want to be snubbed.
