Gnar's lore direction

So Riot has stated that Gnar has been taken in by the other yordles (and he's friends with both Heimer and Lulu), yet they list him as independent. His lore also makes it seem much more like he's still living in the Kumungu Jungle. Rengar is also the narrator for his story, yet Gnar doesn't actually seem to have any personal ties with him.

Personally, I think they are going in a bit of a wrong direction with this. I feel like Gnar doesn't need to be very connected to the other yordles, and the jungle would be much more interesting as the main setting for him.

An idea I had: What if Rengar actually took Gnar in after finding him, seeing potential in the boy? Gnar's family is long gone, and having some kind of father figure for him would be kind of necessary for him to learn about things in life since he's so young. Because of Gnar's more primal mind, I think Rengar would understand him way better than any other yordle could. It would also add something to Rengar's character. Right now, he's honestly pretty flat as a character. "I'm League's take on predator" is basically it. I think showing that even this rough lion can have a softer side would add a lot of depth.

This was just my idea, but where do you guys think they should go with Gnar's lore?

I'd certainly like to know more about him as a character. With his lack of coherent quotes or anything from his perspective, he's just 'cute fanservice' so far it seems. We know nothing of his motivations (unless I missed something) or his thoughts on anything. His backstory is interesting, but that's all we have so far.

(And just to be that guy, If the IoW was still around, why would he join it?)

I think Riot originally planned to put Gnar in with the other Yordles, but the players would much rather he become Rengar's apprentice.

If you remember, Riot commissioned those two-panel comic strips of Gnar's interactions with other champions. They can be found here and here.

I think this is where Riot wants to go with the little guy, a cute champ that annoys some and entertains others. Having him as "independent" keeps him free from direct conflict with another faction.

I don't think Rengar should take him in; That doesn't fit Rengar's character at all. Rengar is a stalker, a hunter. A solo killer.

If anything, Gnar should follow him around on occasion, but I wouldn't go any further than that.

Gnar is somekind of "Stone Age Caveman" style, so if you're talking about family, I don't think Gnar gives a sh*t about them. Gnar wasn't originally from Bandle City, just some jungle Gnar was from, so that's one reason he is considered independant, similar to how Lucian is such a bothersome in Shadow Isle killing ghosts and stuff when out of nowhere, he originated from Demacia for some reason.

I think if Rengar "adopted" Gnar or at least took him under his wing it would be really cute. It also continues the cycle of an orphaned being , being taken in by a member of a different species and helping them to learn, grow, and survive on their own.

Gnar has no home. Due to him having no family and no true home, he wonders. You could say this is due to normal childish antics, which is a valid reason, but notice how Gnar wandered all the way to Kumunga, a good bit far from his awakening location. My thought is Gnar's family back in Ancient Freljord were nomadic hunters. I think if Gnar was taken in by Rengar and trained, he would probably just wander off. Besides, I don't think Gnar is incredibly fond of Rengar. I don't hate the idea. I actually follow some blogs on Tumblr that do the same thing with Rengar and Gnar. It's just I find it not very likely.

idk why they made him have an encounter with rengar, then says he was taken in by the yordles....... and never stated where hes from(although its hinted) I don't think they care much about Gnar's Character seeing how they rushed into azir.

I also think that they were falling behind schedule with champion releases which Is why gnar was so late and Azir and Sion came not too long ago after. And this new champion coming....usually(or so it was when I started) it was like evry two months..
