It's always bugged me, and I was wondering if there was any real reason for it.
Well, at the time of Kog'Maw's release, Rek'Sai, Kha'Zix, and Vel'Koz didn't exist, so the list is a lot shorter (just Mal, Cho, and Kassie), so the name trend was a lot less defined. Kog'Maw is also a bit different since he showed up before the other void beasties, in Icathia specifically rather than some generic portal. Anyway, just my musings.

And again, some titles like "Void Burrower" are just stupid. Maybe its trend that we shouldn't be pushing.
I think it's Kassadin or Cho'Gath's lore that mentions that the Void has many names depending on who's talking about it. The Abyss is probably just another name for it.
He'll get the void name buff when he sheds that larvae flesh and becomes purple like a real otherworldly terror.
