@Riot - The SG Ahri Animation, the stories...

I would watch the shit out of it if it was a full blown show. Make it happen! It's a pretty compelling premise - the guardians of the universe lashing back against their mission because they want autonomy, coupled with the new team that's complete chaos, as well as the unknown battles before that have slain other guardians. PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN AS A SHOW! If Rooster Teeth can do it with RWGB, you can do with Star Guardians!

I can't say I'm a fan of this idea. A video or 2 would be neat, but a full blown video series? I guess the SG hype haven't consumed my soul because that seems like a bit much.

We have to remember that the Star Guardian skins are just that, skins. Alternate fantasies of the original champs & those champs have their own stories (well....*looks at Soraka*...most champs). If anything, we need a League series for the canon long before we think alternate universes. The canon should be the main focus of League's writers with skins getting love every once in a while.

Then you run into the issue of completely confusing ignorant people. Let's say this series does happen & non-League players are fans of it. When does fans come to the game to learn about their favorite characters, they'll learn that the SG versions aren't actually the main version. SG Lux doesn't have the same story as Canon Lux, SG Jinx is not a crazy psychopath like Canon Jinx, SG Lulu looks completely different from Canon Lulu, etc. You'll end up marketing the wrong versions of the champs & some people won't like that. Especially since the version of the champs they like are locked behind a pay wall or grind & pay wall (they'll need to get the champ).

Let's not forget that there are League players who aren't fans of the SG skins, whether it be X Champ players who don't like the SG skin or players who like different champs in general. It would feel unfair for them that SG would get a series before their favorite champs & skinlines. If SG get a series, then everyone & their mom will be asking for a series about their favorite skins. "I want one for PROJECT! I want one for Blood Moon! I want one for Order of the Fifth Age Taric! Etc." Riot will either give in & make series for every skinline. Or they'll don't & fans of other skins will feel like they're getting ignored.

I'm not saying SG shouldn't get any lore, but I don't think they deserve a full blown online show as if they're the main content of League.

Maybe a Riot-Roosterteeth cooperative project? Maybe a crossover? Ruby and Lux would get along well.

I'm not sure how well the TV show idea would mesh with Rito's current experience/workload. I know I WOULD WATCH THE HELL OUT OF IT. More than anything, though, I just wanted to gush about how they're really NAILING the Magical Girl theme. <3

The friendships, characterizations, internal conflicts, lore, henshin sequences, costumes, powers... I can recognize all the elements of the Sailor Moon that I was raised on! The stories and the trailers are really managing to balance the bright optimism of youthful characters and lofty ideals with the dark threat of too much responsibility, overwhelming odds, and the risk of losing everything the girl (or Ezreal) holds dear. The art is gorgeous, their choices for the Star Guardians have been kind of surprising a couple times but they make it so fitting that I stop giving the picks a second thought. The familiars and weapons all feel right within the aesthetic.

Just... They managed to take the Magical Girl shojou vibe and make it so completely their own. I love it. I love it so much that I'm having a full fangirl spaz attack. It's like my childhood and my more recent loves have combined to make a gift just for me. <3 Thank you, Rito. <3<3<3<3<3

PS. Take my money!

You're making it sound like RWBY was done overnight. It's currently the legacy of a man who passed away with a personal vision of the show that is currently being developed by pretty damn talented and passionate people after he passed away.

Regardless, Riot doesn't do shows as far as i'm concerned. They'd like to "do it right" because they've never done anything like this before. They'd propably start off small with something way smaller like a mini-show of things on a theme, rather than full 15 - 30 min episodes.

Indeed, I'm just unhappy of the characters chosen (though Ahri fits indeed the "going against your fate" character) but I'm really liking to see Riot putting effort in giving lore and story to a skin line that can explore other story telling compared to the canon one.

The skinline needs Taric and Aurelion Sol as characters though :3

I liked all the nods they added, like MF disliking Oranges and Ezreal flirting with Lux. I don't remember them all, but there was a bunch and it made me smirk every time I came across one.

As much as I love Star Guardians, Riot is untested in a lengthy episodic series. I doubt their very first production would be very good, not to mention they likely don't have the animation resources to do a full blown show, especially any time soon.

It would be cool if we could get a high quality Star Guardian series, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

And for what it's worth, I think these short stories and videos we've gotten work best as disconnected short works. The references and tropes would likely not pan out well in a long-form work.

Yeah, I really want a Star Guardian show.

I have offered Riot to help write it for RP and a DJ Sona Skin. Maybe SG Ahri too. [slayer-jinx-wink]

I am cheap when it comes to something I would love to do. Lol

I'd honestly love more stuff about the SG AU. Non-canon events that have a lot of lore to them are always fun and this particular one is really appealing as it fits into the "being a magical girl actually sucks a lot" deconstruction that made Madoka so endlessly popular. On that note, there's a lot of ideas that aren't fully fleshed out or are left vague; like what exactly it means by Guardians being destined to quickly "burn out." There's so much more to be explored with this AU idea and it'd be a shame if they never went through with it.

Ehh, I dunno. I feel like Madoka did it better than I can imagine League ever could.
