@Riot - About the Current and Future State of Lux
With the PBE Update yesterday, Riot added in completely new voice files for Lux, expanding on her current ones and making her VO a bit more modernized - however, this leaves a ton of questions that need to be asked.
As we all know, Lux is massively popular. Her kit is strong, it has aged really, really well, and the love she's gotten over the years have her in a healthy, viable place. That leaves us with her model and her looks. She's starting to show her age pretty badly. Her animations aren't as fluid as they should be, she doesn't have all the animations present that modern champion designs and redesigns have, and with Riot's stance last year that they would no longer be doing visual updates alone, this leaves Lux is a very awkward space. With the addition of new voice lines to Lux, this would mean that the only portion of her as a champion that will need to be fixed to bring her to modern standards will be her model. Hence the awkward space. If Riot isn't going to ever do visual updates by themselves, how long will someone as beloved as Lux have to wait to get a full VGU? She's remained viable for this long since her release, and her popularity ensures that she's a top candidate for skins as well as one who's consistently adjusted to stay in a healthy place. This doesn't leave any time in upcoming years where Lux would ever need extensive work, over the course of which her model would look worse, and worse, and worse as technology and design standards continue to improve.
So Riot, this is where I ask you - Will you consider giving Lux a visual update, akin to that which you gave Gangplank? Unlike him, she needs no kit or gameplay work, just an updated model, new rigging, and new animations. Will you consider making her the exception to your policy of never doing VUs without VGUs since she's so popular that any amount of modernization will go over well?
just to name a few.
