The Name Tahm Kench was that of a Gambler that made a bet with the River King

Just read that on one of the texts before game. I find it really interesting for some reason. Especially I find it relevant because during the new trailer the Agony's Embrace says "Let Evelynn take over". I smell some theory over this, but can't quite put my finger on it

Demons in mythology tend to represent the temptation to stray away from moral behavior. Nocturne took over the mind of a child under immense pressure to hide his magical talents from the rest of the world. Tahm Kench's whole story is about the desperate gambler who "let him in", and once he found a happy life Kench showed up to collect. Evelynn's lore isn't out yet, but from the teaser, Reav's comment that Eve needs an invitation to kill/seduce her target, and what we know about Eve pre-rework, we can make a good guess. I'd say that judging from all of this, demons are a type of spirit. They tempt mortals with offers for their heart's desires, and use that invitation to get inside their heads and fuck them over. Literally, in Eve's case.

The deals we've seen these creatures make usually have an ironic twist on their original desire. Nocturne got into a kid's desire to not have magic that made him weird, and Nocturne used that to steal his power and use it to fuel his own. Tahm Kench found a gambler who was desperate to escape his debt, and Tahm made sure the gambler's last debt was the one he'd incurred to him.

My guess is that Eve finds adulterers, the lonely, the decadent, the abused... anyone who seeks the touch of a beautiful woman. She offers the affection and companionship you want, in the form of her disguise, and gives it to you. ("Aw, are you lonely? Let Evelynn take over...) But she spends her time with you making you suffer, and feeding off of it. She'll break your arm in three places, cut your heart, make you scream and beg for mercy that will never come. And then, at the end, she'll eat your soul.

I'm honestly hoping Eve still has that humanish assassin element on top of this sorta demon thing, but at this stage it's looking unlikely.
