I don't mind the actual voice, but she says every line like she is bored and uninterested, faking surprise. Haven't decided if it is compelling or not, specially after the success of Swain's VO

EDIT: After listening to more of her VO, some lines are better. However some (specially at the begginign) just sound too disconencted from what a person fighting would sound like

Ok so her actual noninteractive VO lines are a lot better. Still could be better but you can notice an improvement for sure. It seriously seems like Riot had to call her back to do retakes and she didn't want to be there and half-assed those

No ferocity, no pain, barely any emotion; it's the weakest voice acting we've gotten in a while. Compare her to recent champions.

She doesn't even interact with her suit, which is meant to be a living thing, she even references this! It taught her how to survive, apparently, and it's moving around constantly. Why waste an opportunity? Kai'sa could have had a dynamic that Kayn and Rhaast have, but a positive partnership rather than constantly fighting for control.

Yeah... I mean is not horrible (as in lets call for it to be completely changed). However with how high Riot has upped their game recently, this isn't really at the same level

It's living, but that doesn't mean it's intelligent, or can talk. It seems like a wild animal that she has to feed to avoid it turning against her.

Not saying you have to like it. Just that saying it doesn't have emotion when it's not meant to is kinda redundant. I also feel a lot of the people can't get past that she isn't what they expected and/or wanted, so they refuse to like it. That doesn't apply to everyone though

Wow, yeesh. They wanted her to sound calm, cool, and collected, but they took it too far. Now she does just sound bored.

some of her other lines sound better once you get to them. Some of the ones she uses when fighting voidspawns are just plain awful however. Wish they take those out.

I don't mind serious. Characters like Jayce and Gangplank are serious. However some of her lines IMO sound like she is completely detached and disengaged from what is going on in front of her aka bored

Well I want Riot to make varied characters that can explore different themes. I’m sorry one champion out of 140 isn’t excited enough.

Yeah... I'm still entitled to have an opinion on every single character since I like the game, don't you think? XD

From what I am gathering from the boards the general sentiment seems similar to mine at least. Yes, I do know the boards are a minority of the player base and we tend to complain here about stuff more often than other groups.

I did make some edits to my first post. I reacted quickly to her first lines and acknowledge some are better. I just don't like her fighting lines being so disinterested. However the general accent of the voice actress I do like, I just feel like it could be better (more engaging).

Keep in mind ultimately League triumphs because people connect to characters through their visuals, themes and gameplay. I wager not a lot of people here are familiar with PTDS and people being schizophrenic or whatever the proper medical term for being desensitized from stress is. If you don't read her lore and have the proper context to connect the dots to her being desensitized she just comes as plain more often than not, at least IMO

League of legends triumphs because of replay value and the sense of a fair(ish) competition. Many people dont give a shit about lore or about the champions they play. My friend plays shitloads of Azir, and he plays without sound a lot.

If someone is interested in the characters and the lore they’ll read it eventuall. That is besides the fact that it’s blatantly obvious she’s a human with too much void experience.

The boards are a terrible gauge for the league community, not just because it’s a small subsection. People here form their opinions quickly and then loudly declare them as many times as they can. It can seem like the boards think one way when it’s not always the case.

Also her full lore isn’t released. Yet there are already commenters claiming she’s a Mary Sue for some reason.

To be fair, they're judging her from her appearance and voice. Wasn't a fan of how Zoe was portrayed overall.

However If you go look at Meddler's and Maple Nectar posts, you will see these boards do serve as warning flags

The rest is just you stating your opinion, can't really debate with it. If you really want to get anal about me commenting that character connection and diversity is an important factor of LoL's success, then the root cause of Leagues success is it being a fun free to play game that can run on low spec computers... so yeah....

Sounds like the person that voiced her didn't want to be there tbh, or got tired too quickly.

I don't mind the choice of the voice, but i don't really get many passion vibes coming from it, in comparison to say, eve or swain where you knew the voice actor was really playing up to their character and enjoying it.

The most life to those lines are the peaches ones, but some of them feel a little forced.

She sounds ok with the helmet on tho, (her helmet filters her VO).

Meh, I'll see how her spanish VO turns out, that's an advantage to being bilingual I guess

Yeah she sounds awful. Riot really messed up this champion hard. I wouldn’t care so much if she didn’t take a Void champion slot. I mean it’s the Void you could have been so creative with this design. Should have left the sexy chick design for Blidgewater.

I don't agree with you point referring to her visuals but I can see were you come from.

The void is also one of my favorite factions, but keep in mind Kog and Cho need VGU's. My guess is riot doesn't want to cluster the void monster space much more. I do wish we get a monster champion soon-ish.

Personally, I think with some tweaks her release skin could have been changed into a Piltovian guard or something and have that be the base skin, if I was following your train of thought. Another sexy Bildgewater character would be too similar to MF IMO

I wasn’t aware that vgus counted because then we already got a sexy chick with Eve who by the way had an amazing voice acting unlike this awful new champion. I hate everything about Kai’Sa. She is the most uninspired boring champions released I have ever seen. The fact that she takes up a champion spot for the Void, a place that’s suppose to be surreal is really sad. She didn’t need to be a monster but she is incredibly boring both design and voice acting wise. I saw some initial designs of her and those were much better.

As I told you I can see where you are coming from. But yes VGUs do take "spots". For example I can assure you no ionian champs will be released this year, since we have Irelia and Akali VGUs coming up

Played her a bit on the PBE

I don't mind it as much anymore, she actually doesn't sound as bad with all the other audio going on, and the helmet does sound satisfying. The interactions you'll rarely hear (like if you listen to zoe's interactions you'll hate her first impression, but in-game its not a big deal and grows on you).

I think they just wanted to go with a innocent girl that isn't edgey, but is very serious still about the situation. Tbh that can't really be expressed any better.

I think they over did it with too many W and counting kill voice lines, those could've been more quotes or interactions with other races, like her comparing piltover or the shadow isles to the void or something. Saying stuff like "the void is darker then the isles" to a shadow isles champ, etc.

It's absolutely terrible. It makes me feel nothing. Her ambitions are unclear. Even when there's SUPPOSED to be power, it ends up just sounding amateur, like she's a new actress who is afraid to yell and sound silly. Just plain disappointing for such a cool character.

yeah got some of that as well, she being afraid to yell and sound silly. Some lines that play to her being calm sound alright, like when she is making observations about the world and such. However when she is fighting and talks I get nothing but mixed messages (is she calm? is she detached? what is she thinking?)

think of this, they wanted realism, she has been fighting void creatures for ~decades, i dont think a skirmish with a few people will be that interesting to her. She tries to show gratitude for what she receives and probably is board taking to the suit after so long

I think it sounds really flat just because you're not hearing it in the midst of battle. I thought that at first too, but then I remember this game has: sounds from your abilities, music going on in the background, sounds from other champs abilities, other champions voice lines, and much more. Her voice might sound flat on it's own, but in battle I think it'll be cool.
