In lol however, I noticed for female characters at least theyir sentences just drag on forever and I find that distracting XD

You have to take in the nature of their language into account.
As a Chinese who speaks Mandarin, Japanese "exaggerated" VO makes sense, because both of our languages emphasise the use of tones as a way to express emotions and intents in speech (which ofc, would be pushed further in shows because that's what it means). This is also why many western countries find Asian people and their conversations loud or whatever, but that's exactly how our languages work.
Idk. But being more appreciative and understanding is generally a good thing.
