Aurelion Sol's Short Entry Lore Seems Odd

When he was revealed I got the feeling he was a space monster that felt unstoppable in his quest to destroy. He seemed to enjoy crushing planets as his victims begged him for mercy. I thought this guy sounded awesome. After reading the lore he now seems like a helpless pet that doesn't want to hurt anyone but has to. What the heck happened?
