Why does Swain get a vgu then immidiatly get a new skin

When every other vgu every locks the champion out of getting a new akon for a long time. Look at yorick or Evelynn

I understand the reasoning about Dragon Master Swain being requested for so long and that stuff.

But Swain getting a new skin with his VGU still feels kinda unfair for the other reworked champs... Urgot

Honestly, I can get the reasoning of why complaining. Like, will you do this for the others? Why haven't you done so before? were you just holding out and lying from the start?

But, at the same time, isn't it unfair to complain? Like, I rather see people just ask outright, "Hey, is this a new standard?" as opposed to them complaining about a vgu 1-2 years ago as if doing that will change the past.

Like I said, I understand the reasoning behind it. And yes, it might be unfair to complain about it. But that's how I feel and I can't change it, I am disappointed.

Does that change anything? No. Swain got a special treatment here (which will not be a new standard according to Riot, it was a one-off), that the other VGUs didn't and won't.

I am not going out of my way to post threads in here stating my disappointment, but I feel like letting it out as a comment from time to time.

And since I am not raging, nor flaming Riot or insulting about that matter, I think it's ok to show my feelings about the situation.

This was an officially confirmed skin that was delayed for many years, it's not really a new skin

Didn't Yorick get Arclight Yorick like...the same month of his rework? Is he really a good example?

His rework release was September 2016, Arclight came out October 2017...over a full year later...

It was V 6.18 he was changed in, Yorick's Arclight skin was literally 4 months ago. He did not get a skin immediately after his rework.

Last swain skin was in 2012. Eve got a skin in 2014. Yorick got arclight after his remake.

Yorick didn't get his Arclight skin until a year later. It was released last October. His rework was in September 2016.

Still pretty good. Dragonswain was a meme/dream for so long, yorick didnt have anything similar. Ye he had some skinideas but nothing that was so strongly wanted.

Swains last skin was in May 2012, Urgots last one was in March 2012, so even more time. Still Urgot got no skin with his rework....

VGUs do not lock champions out of getting new skins AFTER their VGU, just before it. Some champs just take a while to have that perfect skin show up for them, while others have it fall in their lap. Swain's skin, Dragonmaster, had been teased FOREVER ago, canceled, and now they revived it due to the hype it has still received over the years. This skin was 100% to appease upset fans from many years ago, so it's pretty special.

But as for others, Taric got a new skin like a month after his VGU (Pool Party), Tristana and Sion both got skins within months, and Yorick got his FIRST SKIN EVER (his originals were launch skins) within a year. It'll happen for Urgot, Evelynn, and Galio. Just give it some time.

Here's an official Riot response to this: "Hola! I previously worked on the Skins team for a couple years before moving to Champions team, so this is the perfect question for me to answer!

What was it like to develop a new skin alongside a full VGU for the first time? Was it because Swain hasn't received any skins in almost six years?

"Working on a new skin while the base form is still in development is pretty tough (launch skins for new Champs can be similar - it's easier now that Champions team has taken on launch skins again) - many changes to the base can trickle down and affect new skins in development, so it's a high cost of communication to keep everyone in the loop. Both the Swain update and Dragonmaster are old promises to players, so we wanted to join forces between Skins and Champions and deliver both at the same time."

Does this mean we can expect future VGU's to be accompanied by new skins too?

"This is a one-off. We typically see less interest in new skins right after an update because it feels like the updated champion just got a bunch of love and new skins already. This was a special case since Dragonmaster has been floating around as an idea for so long. :)"" -Riot SpaceNorth
