Should Kai'sa have scars?

So with all of the Kai'sa buzz one of the things I've seen repeatedly is that most people who might have a problem with Kai'sa don't have a problem with her deep v-neck but instead have an issue with the fact that she seems flawless when she should realistically look a lot more scruffy and in particular I've seen a lot of people saying she should have scars, which brings me to my question. Should Kai'sa have scars?

Seriously though, what do other people think about this?

I'd propose that she shouldn't, and I'll explain why. (As a quick sidenote I like that Kai'sa's lore actually gives an age range for Kai'sa.)

According to Kai'sa's lore her first fight is with a voidling "no bigger than her." During this fight, remember that she's nine years old at this point, she is able to kill the voidling using a knife while the voidling is only able to knock her over. After killing this voidling the voidling's skin attaches itself to Kai'sa. She breaks her knife trying to get it off, but then embraces it and uses it as a shield to escape from the larger void creatures.

At what point in that lore did she get scarred? Well, physically scarred; I'm pretty sure she was emotionally scarred from her whole village slowly dying within earshot. All I see in her lore is a young girl who got knocked over once and from that one time getting knocked over got a dope shield that turned into full-body armor.

We don't have much information on the strength of creatures she fought in the tunnels beneath icathia or how the second skin works. While i think it's somewhat questionable i guess it's possible that the second skin is able to keep her body flawless over the years.

Scars could serve as decent visual shorthand that would help convey the hardship she's been through, but she certainly doesn't need to have scars to sell an idea like that. It's not a dissimilar concept to Riot deciding she needed to show more skin to make it visually obvious that she was both human and uncorrupted.

As for when she could have got scarred: we haven't got a definite timeline for how long it took her second skin to go from only covering a limited section of her body to something that offered full-body protection, but the way her bio is written certainly suggests it took years for it to become what it is now rather than it being a quick process. It's not out of the question that she took some hits in that time, nor that she's taken some since that actually pierced her armour to strike the host beneath.

That's the same as saying that Darius should have more serious scars all over his body due to the battles that he's fought in his Lore.

I'm still pretty annoyed that Riot is going to be redesigning her.

In her short story, Kai'sa mentions that her carapace activates on instinct as she detects or thinks of danger. Which is indicative of her body being fully protected, almost by instinct. She also mentions she feels needles pricking her skin at some times more than others. That's why I'd assume her body is well protected since her bond with the void shell.

However, I find it a bit surprising that this bond occurred so easily. It certainly reminds me of the movie Alien where someone used alien skin to protect themselves from Alien blood which was acidic. However, that was clearly a separate component. And that was indicated in Kai'Sa's biography, that she took it and used it. If anything, you'd think it would corrupt her and do a lot more than just make her skin prick. We can only assume it's a discomfort based on her quotes, but I think the lore doesn't fully do justice to the physical burden she endures. If anything, the way it was elaborated, it sounds very tolerable and beneficial, rather than burdensome and painful. Just did a video, will publish tomorrow, for her short story. So I found it quite interesting, albeit somewhat lacking in the real details we all want to know.

Scars would be an option to make her a better character, there are other options too.
