Nocturne?

So back when Riot retconned the lore they removed the existence of summoners in lore, but Nocturne's lore still references summoners and even his VO references summoners. What gives? Hasn't it been over two years now? Shouldn't something as simple as a force of nature be easily retconned with like zero effort?

To prove that it would take zero effort to make Nocturne's lore fit I'll throw something together here.

In the beautiful land of Ionia, where magic flows unencumbered, and different settlements follow different paths, a single incident stood out that almost unified many of the Ionian sects. Nightmares, and not just the normal nightmares experienced throughout all of Runeterra but nightmares amplified by the magic of the land. It started off innocently enough with slightly worse than average nightmares plaguing a single camp, but as time passed they only seemed to grow worse and worse, until the point when mages heard screaming in their sleep would already be considered dead. Many different orders came together out of fear of these nightmares. Every day people were dying and sleep was now terrifying. Large parts of Ionia attempted to use magic to stave off the physical need for sleep, but no one ever succeeded.

After gathering together the leader of the participating orders gathered their strongest mages to attempt to stop these nightmares. The mages worked together and came up with a way to end these nightmares, but they knew it'd come at a cost. Most sects were afraid of what would happen if they went through with the plan and pulled out, but one sect believed it was for the greater good. The mages from that sect gathered together and waited for the nightmares to come their way. Once the nightmares began plaguing their settlement the mages went to work. Casting all sorts of meta-physical sealing magic upon themselves. Then they went to sleep. Just as was hoped the nightmares came their way, but also as they had hoped their magic interfered with the nightmares. A scream was heard and almost all of the mages were awoken. The only mage not awake was dead, and above his dead body a dark figure. With a swift motion from the figure all the mages died. On that night the deadly nightmares ended, but a new nightmare arose. A nightmare so powerful it affected Ionia when it was awake. A nightmare so powerful even fires lost their light. A nightmare so powerful even day became night. A nightmare that Ionia came to know as Nocturne.

Like that took me less than 15 minutes to come up with. Why can't Riot's lore team come up with something?

Nocturne showed up in the For Demacia story (which had Lux and Garen) as the darkness demon that possessed that kid mage. So, he still hates mages. A lot. Looks promising, I just hope they elaborate on it.

Actually there is an updated version of his lore, that basically swaps "summoners" with "mages" and changes the ending,so that he escapes from them. It's on the universe page, where pretty much all the current lore is. https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_GB/

Though I'm pretty sure that its just a placeholder for when he gets a real lore update eventually.

Yeah he's in desperate need of an update

They have temporarily updated his lore as someone else already said. I personally think they are going to tie Nocturne to another champion (very possibly the new burst mage). As they implied he’s possibly someone’s nightmare that came alive.
