#Quick Note: Downvote me all you want, that's just the truth about you, you are nothing more than salty players who are never happy about anything.

I can guarantee that 90% of you people don't even play him or were aware of his existance before Riot did these changes so I don't know why you are complaining about someone that you most likely didn't even care about before.

I as a old Varus main, on the other hand I don't mind these changes i'm just glad that his lore is clear now. I on the other hand choose to thank Riot for the fact that they decided to create a music video and make a comic out of the other 100+ champions they could of chose.

So stop complaining and get over yourselves.

We call it a silent majority. Maybe they did care, but it wasn't worth bringing up until they realized there was even an issue to discuss. League is many million strong after all. There will ALWAYS be plenty of people who will be upset.

I don't pretend to understand other people on any platform, but I do understand the over-arching design of media platforms like this. People talk about problems as they pop up (and admittedly while they're still upset). It's comparable to the Hollywood sex allegations, where common people are suddenly speaking up about stuff that got brought to light, only because NOW they know it's an actual thing. How would they have discussed it beforehand? They didn't even know about it. Same thing here. We don't work at Riot. How could we have known Vaarus' lore would end up this way?

Also this Varus issue isn't even new lol. Riot has drasticly change character in past like Poppy Warwick and no one bats an eye. Quite frankly I'm glad I found a some where else to talk with people who actually like the new lore instead of sitting here talking nostagic diseases mooks who think their two bit fanfic is worth anything

It’s really annoying though to see so many people, who frankly don’t care about the lore otherwise, get so up in arms over what a lot of us see as a necessary change. What’s more annoying is that a lot of these people didn’t even read the full lore, and they just parrot talking points they saw on some other post.

The only necessary change was that what was in the Pit be comfirmed to be a Darkin. Every other change was just something they thought would be cool.

the varus lovers lost the reason they mightve like varus. so theyre angry. while other ppl mightve gained someone they'd consider playing just becuz of this. :/ it's a transition and transitions can be uncomfortable.

Yes, people complained about Poppy and Warwick. I was there. No, it was really hard to see the complaints over everyone else screaming "OMG I LOVE THIS REWORK" because that's what the people wanted to discuss.

This is just a lore update. No one is going to be screaming "I LOVE THE REWORK" this time.

Honestly I wouldn't have even been upset if he wasn't a somewhat established character already. If he was already a more than one entity I would have been ecstatic. But his ENTIRE CHARACTER was a family man (wife and child) who chose duty over family and used the blight to enact vengeance. As a former Varus main. If you really were one and if you cared about him as a character. If you had read his lore, you would be upset as well. We're entitled to be upset just like you're entitled to make shit tier posts. :) The point is that it's a neat idea and could have been made as a new character instead of the Zoe shitshow, not completely butcher and 180 his lore. Excuse me. Their*.

I am aware what his old lore was, and I did like it. But the reason why I don't mind the change is because it's more interesting, look at the old lore at this perspective... His old lore was basically my family was killed and now i'm going to kill all the bad guys (every superhero movie ever) in my opinion it didn't feel that unique even if the direction was good.

The thing about this lore is that it tends to put more focus on the actual corruption (darkin) that has been awaken rather then the character before it all itself, to be honest Varus before the changes was suppose to be considered this deadly archer who is driven by vengeance due to the fact that his family was killed and I thought that the Varus that is now the actual Darkin fits the profile better because he seems more deadly and dangerous, since now he is a being of an extinct race that was long forgotten and will make the world remember what was long forgotten.

One other thing, yes maybe the character in the previous lore is gone but back then he just felt like a half-man, half-corrupt being and not all that powerful and dangerous. Some of the voice lines won't make sense now, with this lore change... Well Riot confirmed that they are going to give new voice-over lines at some point just not any time soon due to the fact that champion reworks take the priority right now.

The fundamental issue all lore has at this point is that it's so susceptible to rewrites and retcons at seemingly any point that it's impossible to get invested into any of it. People defend a lot of the new lore when it's against expectations by saying that people's headcanons often have little basis which is entirely valid, but at the same time with champion lore potentially disappearing at any point there's a reason why headcanon is so rife. Your favourite character story can get thrown away at a moment's notice - the whole Dominion/Kalamanda plot line for example (Although it was endearing that they kept Kalamanda as a place for a nod to old lore fans)

While I respect the sheer amount of effort the lore team is putting in even if I don't like the results, at the end of the day it's not amounting to much and just confusing the fanbase even more. I'll be sticking to headcanon.

I honestly advise against people getting invested in lore atm. There is about 60 odd champion subject to change in the upcomming year or two. Their going through a massive overhaul of the entire league atm meaning alot of character are subject to change.

I can give you the list of champion that probably won't change going forward if you want to actually read the proper lore instead of the old junk.

If you mean this retcon, the Varus one, I disagree, they wanted his original story expanded on, not changed this drastically.

If you mean the lore retcon itself, we aren't worried that much about it, we just think Riot shouldn't t use it as an excuse to change characters this much, Especially when they need a new VO to match it.

They wanted to expand on his story concept, not his story. There not going do a massive retcon of the new lore for probably the next 30 or so years. New lore will not be changed once they are set.

Riot probably never going to say this, but they are abandoning the old lore fan in favour of their new story. The new lore is not a favor to the lore fans but more in favor of league as an IP going forward.

Secondly, for me, they wasted 1 out of the 5 only Darkin champions allowed on rune terra.

You can complain about how people are being negative, but you are missing the point on why that is. Negativity is disagreement.

Not everyone wants to be a happy little sheep that just follows the flock. Not ever wanting things to be better. Fuck you.

Honestly, after seeing the snippet thrown on the PBE (moreover, seeing that people were already outraged), I was 100% prepared to rage with them. It seemed just...poorly cobbled together and not at all engaging. Then this, THIS happened, what with the comics and the music video and the everything and I just...

Mmm. I thought I would hate it, and I really wanted to hate it at first, but I am here for it.

I'm totally down with the people calling it pigeonholing and pandering, totally agree that it could have possibly been better executed by rolling a new champion rather than up-ending some preexisting lore, but at the end of the day, I'm happy with it. It brought the spotlight back to my first ADC, the champion that got me hooked on the game ~~even though I was terrible with him for while~~, the one I've really been hoping would shine after all of the sparkly new things had their time.

Just really pleased that Varus is getting some love. Maybe more expressed hate on the boards specifically, but it's attention. "No publicity is bad publicity", I guess.

(I may just be gushing because I just had a double-pentakill game with dat boi (doze bois?), but whatever)

I mean, I was complaining about it since the short bios, and I'm still not happy with the thought of nautalis lore revamp. I'm not mad, just sad. I enjoyed his old lore, and I enjoy lore in general. I don't really have a problem with the new lore, just miss the old.one. most feedback I have seen is not unreasonable. Sorry.
