PSA - Splash Update and Global Unification

So I see wayyy to many people complaining about the splashes that have been pushing through recently, and I thought I'd settle some fears and set things right.

First, there is a process going on to unify all splashes globally. This is to ensure that the artwork is recognized worldwide and to prevent materials in one country from appearing in art in countries where such things may be perceived as obscene, vulgar, and offensive. As such, Chinese splashes tend to be used as the base for this, and they are being used as placeholders worldwide. If the art looks Anime, this is the temporary Chinese artwork and is not permanent.

That leads to the next point. The Splash team is working to bring ALL SPLASHES up to current standards. This means the artistic styles of champions and skins like Dragon Tamer Tristana, Aurelion Sol, Jihn, Arcade Miss Fortune, etc, etc, are the current standard. Splashes like the old Trundle, Alistar, Fiddlesticks, Teemo, and whatnot that have a certain dated, amateur feel to them are going to be replaced eventually. Until they are replaced entirely, there are going to be placeholders to use globally. You can see some splashes have already received their final updates, like the new Classic Fiddlesticks, Classic Warwick, Blade Mistress Morgana, Classic Orianna, and Classic Katarina.

Champions who, in the past, received visual updates but no splash updates are at the top of the list to bring their splashes up to speed with their in game models. Champions like Sion, Tristana, Trundle, Nidalee, and Sivir, plus many more, will be receiving splashes sooner than others to bring them up to speed.

So tl:dr - Splashes are being replaced with global placeholders until all splashes can be brought up to current standards. The anime looking splashes aren't permanent. Old VU champs are having their splashes updated faster to reflect their VU changes.
