So am I the only one who feels that retconning an unambiguiously straight character to be gay...

...is just as bad as doing the opposite? Like, if you want to make a character gay, sure, go for it, but why pick a character who's already established to have a wife and children?

Yes, you are the only one. That's definitely not the 379548th thread I have seen.

Once AGAIN, Varus is NOT fucking gay. Varus is a DEMON, the lwo humans inside him are gay but its Varus in control. Jesus you people are retarted

I personally dont have that big of a problem with it. Idk why you guys are complaining about it so much sure having Varus' body be made from 2 gay men is weird but its still Varus he still has the same elements of his old lore in the new one. Varus still has the corruption (Now a Darkin which is a welcome change) he still fights for vengeance from Noxus yet now its more of just Varus and 1 of the guys wanting to do it and the other guy trying to keep peaceful thoughts and trying to stop Varus. Sure it would of been better to not seem like RIOT was pushing some agenda and I honestly would've liked it if instead of a gay couple they went for a father and a son it could've been the same in terms of one wanting revenge and the other wanting peace and balance with the father being the peace due to his older age and sense of responsibility for his son and the son being young and angry at Noxus. Yet that didnt happen but the lore is still very good and keeps Varus the same with adding more to him.

Because Riot's rules about basic respect only apply to the playerbase, not themselves.

That's a valid frustration. It's also the best way you could have expressed it too, a lot of people go about it by complaining in a homophobic manner and they just start a shit-fight with people.

I agree with you, it would have been better if Riot had done this with another character or simply released a new character instead. But alas, they did it this way.

I'm actually a lot more upset about the fact that they took away the conviction with which Varus accepted the corruption. It was so much more tragic and cool before, when he knew just how evil it was but he freed it anyway, now he just did it because, "screw the prophecy, I'm in love!" Which is a lot less tragic and a lot less interesting of a reason than, "I know you're evil but I don't care."
