Renting Skins From Skin Shards

Has anybody ever done this intentionally? At all? Ideally it'd be nice to get some Rito Stats on this, but I'm wondering if anybody actually uses this option.

I genuinely would not be surprised if more people misunderstood/accidentally clicked it and wasted it, than intentionally made the choice.

It honestly makes no sense that it is deleted after you rent it. Make it cost essence to rent but retain the shard, that way you can still have the skin that you got by slim chance but can demo it for a bit of extra essence just in case.

Utterly pointless trap feature.

There should be a preview option in the shop or a choice box in the Custom matches, instead of this crap.

Renting is useless in my opinion.

Some people may just want to say "Hey look I got this skin!" -> Why not get it permanently?

Some people just want to see how it looks. -> Go to youtube.

Nope. As soon as I get a shard, I decide whether to sell it, upgrade it, or hold onto it in case I get something better. A skin that only lasts a week is no skin at all.

Why would you rent it? You could keep the shard as long as you want in your Hextech loot & have it permanently later.

Yup. This happened to me with Woad King Darius. I wanted to try the skin in-game before I permanently activated it. I had no idea that it would actually use up the shard. I contacted Riot about it, but I was told that it was my fault since there was a "confirmation" window to confirm that I wanted to rent the skin. I understand that it was my fault, but I wish it was blatantly stated that the shard would be used up afterwards. Fortunately, my lovely boyfriend actually bought me the skin afterwards because I was so disappointed.

I have never done it and don't plan to do it.

I did this the first time with headhunter nidalee and I was so sad when I found out that u can't purchase it after

Either renting it should be free and it disappears, or renting it should cost essence and you keep it.

Sometimes, but only in specific circumstances.

  1. I already have a favorite skin for the same champ, and I wouldnt use any other very often (if at all).

  2. I have enough disenchanted essence in the bank. As someone who bought quite a few skins before chests became a thing, I often disenchant my Skin Shards cause I already have my favorite skins for my favorite champs. I already have over 1,000 orange essence in the bank to upgrade a (future) 1350 drop. I dont think my luck is good enough to get multiple 1350 drops in a row, and I'm not going to hold my breath for 1850s or 3250s. So there is no point in amassing a ton of Orange Essence.

Now, do I think that more people accidentally click it then intentionally make that choice? Sure. But yes, I have rented skins intentionally.

nope, most people don't bother with it for good reasons it's a waste of essence , and after that, it's gone you are better off farming the skin shard , and unlocking it

just my personal opinion

Sukishoo12/31/2016, 2:17:46 AM2 votes

I've never used it... as I own almost every current skin >_> so no need for it XD

Theres literally no other purpose to it than to make none the wiser individuals use it and waste materials. Kind of scummy to be honest.

The only positive thing about renting a skin that I have been able to find is this: if you rent an ultimate skin shard, you get to keep the icons permanently.

So yeah, it is a trap.

I can just goto skinspotlights youtube and see if the skin i got is something i would like.
