We've all seen Malphite VU's, but what about his personality?
Any true visual update also comes with a tighter, more developed characterization. Sure, we've all seen the honestly epic VU concepts for Malphite, but hardly anyone talks about what'd he be like personally. You may ask, "Malphite has a personality?" Well, like a lot of old champions, when it comes to expressing their character, there's very little to work with. Believe it or not, Malphite's (now defunct) lore actually frames him as a champion for order.
Runeterra was a world that had nearly been consumed by its disharmony. It was a world that needed champions to bring order out of chaos. It was to that end that the rock-creature was summoned, so that he could aid them in this quest. Looking past his own fear and apprehension, Malphite could see that this was a respectable goal, and one in which he could participate - perhaps uniquely so.
Now, personally I'd like Riot to continue moving away from all the far-flung alien worlds and dedicate more to Valoran, where it actually matters. But that doesn't mean an informed character trait can't survive; I'd love to see Malphite stay "uncomplicated" or "straightforward", but only because it suits him. There's some room for potential here, just have to steer clear of venturing too far into Zac's turf.
