Are all Noxians evil?

I was never completely sure of this. However, from what I understand, despite Noxus being technically the "dark" counterpart of Demacia, noxians are not necessarily evil. There are some noxians who are clearly evil; for example, Vladimir and Swain and Leblanc. However, many of them are just "neutral" in terms of "good and evil" questions, they aren't good per se but can't necessarily be labeled as evil. I am even starting to think of the possibility that some Noxians are actually good. For example, Riven.

From what I understand, the concept of "good and evil" is irrelevant for most Noxians. What they use instead is the level of strength. This reminds me of some left-handed path religions, which preaches that there are no evil and no good; instead there are those who are strong enough to think for themselves, and those who are the "weak masses". And that as long as you don't interfere with anyone's lifes, you are free to do whatever you want to your own life. They also generally care more with themselves than with anyone else. I think that this is precisely the way that Noxians think.

Peharps Noxians may see most benevolent actions as sign of weakness, which is why many of the most powerful Noxians are evil.

Noxus and Demacia aren't black and white. Noxus simply respects strength, they don't care how it was attained or what it's used for. It's essentially a society based around survival of the fittest. Leblanc Vladimir clearly have evil intentions but Darius Katarina simply want what's best for their people. Katarina sheds "Blood for Noxus" to protect her homeland and Darius strictly enforces the policy of "Strength above all" by making sure that Noxus's leaders are shining examples of the nation's values.

To be evil means to enjoy the suffering of others. Ultranationalism and/or misguided zealotry may result in actions that appear evil but more often than not is actually influenced by desiring the best for a society.

On the idea of Noxian views on good and evil, I'd like to see a "good" Noxian. Someone who values strength, courage, willpower and the whole Noxian way of life, but someone who also realizes that some people just can't be as strong as others, but that doesn't make them lesser. Someone who is strong in body and mind in a way we'd expect of Noxus, but would be willing to protect the weak regardless. I'd imagine they'd be like:

"Sometimes you're just gonna be weak all your life, and you'll hate it. You will, being weak sucks, but even the most crippled old man has something to offer. If you're gonna die, die knowing you did everything you could, not wishing you could be stronger."

That kinda thought process. Hopefully I conveyed that properly.

Let me break it down for you.

While Noxus might seem like an evil and nefarious sort, there's some important things to know about their opposition.

Demacia is a place of seemingly peaceful and just nature.

On the outside.

In actuality, Demacia is an Aristocracy where only the rich and high society may prosper. If there is someone who is rich and a member of high society who opposes this, they are indoctrinated. This explains why Lux is so F@#$ed in the head. If you aren't born into greatness, you aren't allowed to be great. The poor, the rebellious, the free thinkers... they are spit upon by the internal workings of Demacia. And the sad part is that most people don't even know that they're doing it when they spit on others.

Now, let's look at Noxus.

Blood Magic, Spy Networks, Fights all around the city.

It's a rather large mad-house.

Or is it the most sane?

Noxus is run on a single rule: "If you are strong and willing, greatness shall be yours." This means that even the lowliest hobo could work his way into ruling even Noxus itself. That's why you see so many "Iffy" characters. They were people with great talent that needed only direction. Noxus gave that direction. Noxians are free to do as they wish, speak as they wish and go where they wish as long as it does not hurt Noxus. Anyone can rise to greatness in Noxus.

So, is Noxus evil?

That depends on what you consider evil?

They will stomp on those weaker than their own because they believe that the world can only prosper through the strong.

But would Demacia's Aristocracy and brainwashing be any better for the world?

Thats like asking if all germans are hitler.

or all muslim jihadists.

or all christans white supremacists.

or all black people robbers.

or all jews are rich.

Urgot wasn't technically evil just really dedicated to Noxus as their executioner... then Garen had to happen... twice...

Riven Is not what I would call a "good guy". But Most Noxians are ment to be total hardasses/badasses. That is how their society works, rule by Strength and courage. The problem is that it has been corrupted by the aristocratic members so it's more about people with wealth and power that rule and use the people that value those principles without them knowing about it. And most of them don't really show the strength and valor that Noxus favor.

But I don't think that Noxians are totally heartless. most of them do value family, as seen with Katarina andCassiopeia , and Darius andDraven . Considering that Darius is the closes thing to the living embodiment of noxian ideals, the man is must have some kindness as he did take care of Draven when they lost their parents at a young age.

Swain is not cut and dry evil. He's ambitious, yes, but that's Noxian culture. He was loved by his comrades in battle and widely supported by Noxian citizens. As well, there's even the hint that Swain disapproved of the war crimes during the Ionian Invasion. I don't think he can be so quickly categorized as evil, so much as very morally grey.

I feel Talon is just misguided

Screw Noxus. Its About Demacai BRAAAAAAA PERIOD

NemeBro9/14/2015, 2:26:12 PM1 votes

Draven is one of the most evil champions in the game, and possibly the most evil Noxian. He's basically a fucking cartoon villain, a man who makes garish spectacles of death purely to satisfy his own monstrous ego. Darius should have strangled him in the crib, to spare the world this monster's madness.

Anyway, Noxian champions are by and large evil. Darius and Katarina are basically the only Noxian loyalists I can think of that are not totally evil, and even then they aren't shining paragons of virtue.

HexaDecimel9/14/2015, 2:29:00 PM1 votes

I think there are alot of people on these forums that would consider Riven evil :p

SEKAI9/10/2015, 6:55:22 AM1 votes

Riven is no longer Noxian, she exiled herself after the war.

Before then, while not entirely, she was still evil by being completely ignorant to the nature of the orders she was given. At least she has principles unlike some higher ups in the ranks of Noxus.

Merxamers9/10/2015, 5:04:16 PM1 votes

In theory, no. In practice, yes

Meep Man9/10/2015, 6:45:45 PM1 votes

Evil? A few. Most are more loyal to their country than evil, like Darius and such. Draven isn't evil definitely. He is just a little morbid and famous with his job.

LeBlanc and Vladimir are definitely borderline if not entirely evil. Swain is borderline, but not evil. He is a cruel conquerer (tactician?), but I dont think he is just pure evil.

buneter9/11/2015, 2:13:27 AM1 votes

first: Riven is not part of noxus anymore second: Noxus isn't evil the only way to gain power in Noxus is through battle though so people are extremly strong and prefer war to gain more political power. Thats why they seem evil

CasterGilgamesh9/11/2015, 11:25:52 PM1 votes

well i wouldn't say Vladimir is completely evil since he only really cares about the taste of blood but he is pretty brutal and definitely a champion i would like to see in a grey area i would assume now i'm pretty sure Leblanc and Swain are evil. Darius is just very loyal to his city state and will do whatever it takes to fulfill his dream of a strong Noxus same with Katarina.Cassiopeia loves her sister so i highly doubt she would be a complete villain but she is merciless.Talon is neutral in noxus since he only cares about keeping himself and the household that took him in alive.Draven is neutral as well since he doesn't care about much of anything besides himself and his fans (or at least in my headcanon).Riven is not really part of noxus she needs a new lore since the league and summoners are not canon she originally joined the league to make Noxus great again so she not evil at all. Noxus is not an evil state like everyone tries to see it as just the most realistic they don't try to be heros they don't perceive themselves as light they see themselves as strong and deserving of ruling the world.

Rabid Husky9/12/2015, 12:11:05 AM1 votes

noxus and demacia are both neutral noxus is earned by your strength the stronger you are the better you are Swain is mentally strong hes earned his way to the top by being a master strategist while Talon was a street rat and through his skill and agility became adopted by kats and cass dad. noxus is about strength in all forms it doesn't matter your origins or your intent what matters is your strength and skill ,kinda like most if not all videogames and the community, inherently noxians are not evil more misunderstood while demacia is kinda the opposite (i assume we really don't know much about demacia especially since the retcon) you have nobles who are rich and you have the military where a street rat couldn't become a somebody without either stealing a fortune or becoming a high ranking military officer. if i had to draw any parallels i would say noxus is like zuan and demacia is like piltover just less science
