i think just straight up making him a mimic that took the form of a scarecrow could be fitting. (no, they dont need to look like treasure chests).

its something completely inhuman, that preys on people falling for its disguise. no one knows how old it is or what it really looks like.

seems fitting.

Right now, he is nothing, just like Shaco. No information of how he was created, his origins, his purpose, nothing.
