Discussion on the Darkin
So I've been meaning to post about this for some time after the reveal and voice interactions were released but got lazy. But now I'm finally motivated to post this so now I want to start a discussion on the Darkin.
So to get to it, where exactly are the other Darkin now and is Riot ever going to release more? So far we've only ever had Aatrox and heard based off of the wiki and Riot's lore team that there were at least 5 in the world of League. We've also been told that their more about living weapons that take over their hosts in order to thrive again. With the reveal of Kayn (and more importantly Rhaast) along with the pretty much confirmation that Varus is technically a Darkin, we've now gotten 3 of the 5 Darkin remaining in the world.
But that now remains on who's left. Most likely Riot may just release them later on, since I can't think of any other champs off the top of my head that would turn to or wield a Darkin weapon, but I also have to ask is what forms are they taking. Surprisingly when you think of it, the Darkin so far form a team: Aatrox top, Rhaast Jg, and Varus ADC. Along with their weapons each being fairly unique from one another: Aatrox sword, Rhaast Scythe, Varus bow. But if that's how we're going now, what exactly is going to fill in the support and mid lane roles and what are they going to be for their weapons (vessals?) ?
I mean so far we've gotten a Diver, an assassin (diver I think too though with the burst healing) and marksman so far, so when are we going to see Darkin that give more of a beast-like or tankier side of their kind or even one that shows more magical abilities? How will some the Darkin weapons look, like will the mid lane be more of an arcane orb for a mage or some sort of gauntlet warhammer for support?
Another thing I want to bring up is how the Darkin are now more and more being like the Four Horsemen. I'm not opposed to this idea but should we really take them in what almost feels like a cliche route of almost every other horsemen we're seen? I mean so far we have War (Aatrox) and Death (Rhaast), with either Pestilence or Fury (Varus) and it just feels very linear to me. All that we're missing is Famine and the whole set will be there but then we have one left over for whatever. Also, considering that Rhaast and Aatrox have pretty much similar looks, outside from Varus who's still slightly human, they're still the same. When I think of the Horsemen I think of them being entire unique from one another in color, size, and even silhouette. Here, the silhouettes are different enough but they don't feel apart in terms of what they're suppose to represent. Like I said, I'm not opposed to them being like the Horsemen but I'd really like if they were to try and represent someone to their world, like just Chaos in general. It makes sense in some way, like Aatrox loves battle on whoever he decides to fight, Rhaast loves Slaughter, and you can throw other reasons of chaos in their as well. Just my thought.
Idk what are your thoughts on all of this?
