Why have we not gotten any 'historical Runeterran' champs?

Summoner's rift isn't cannon anymore and therefore its not like there are any reasons we couldn't see champions like Setaka or Poppy's friend theoretically right? I'm not suggesting them specifically but it would be interesting to see some champs from the stories that might've been long dead but to see them as they were in their prime, like if we were to get Yone, it would be Yone, before his death. His stories could give more context on Ionia, his village in particular, and even Yasuo.

Just suggestions, because some off these champs be coming out of nowhere and it feels like a 'just cuz' rather than a solid reason. Sett

I guess probably because, not only would this be confusing for people who aren't into the lore as much, but from a lore perspective there's no suspense. We already know how the story ends -- everything before that doesn't feel nearly as satisfying by comparison.

Each of the dead characters serve as a catalyst or have fulfilled their roles in lore.

The only characters that deserve to be the champion are the ones that have yet to die.

Yone, Setaka, Orlon and Caleb. All four of which are dead and should remain dead. We can even guess what personalities they might have had.

Riot doesn't need to use dead characters to explain history. They could literally just release information, books or color stories in the perspective of a alive champion/character explaining the background.

People don't like playing with champions that are already dead.

Simply because we probably know how their journey ends or what happened and how. Which kills the entire lore potential.

Probably becuase it'd cause confusion among the lore fans and casual players.

Besides there is still so much to explore in the present timeline, that I don't think there is even a need to flesh out characters from the past.

Technically speaking, Mordekaiser.
