Why some people still complain about Lux getting a new skin ?

I understand many other champions need skins but , why people are complaining about Lux to be exact ? Nasus got a world breaker skin in November 2016 , the same month Elementalist Lux was released so what's wrong ? even if Lux got an ultimate skin that day , a skin is still a skin so people should complain about Nasus too , besides , Lux only got 2 decent skins , and this is the 3rd , her other skins aren't attractive to play for me and most of players. did people forget that MasterYi and Jhin got 2 skins in 2017 ? and Jhin got 3 skins to be exact but one of the skins was for skt , but after all it is a skin .

It's a bad feeling for some champions to go for years without a skin, with reasons like they're difficult to make, or are unpopular, but then see certain champions who get a skin every year. Even if someone like Yorick gets a skin every two years, it'd be better for his playerbase.

First, if this skin was developed for Syndra or Ahri, people would complain. It's not Lux, specifically.

Secondly, Lux already has a ton of options, from Spellthief to Elemental. What you call "decent," some might call "silly" or "stupid" or "expensive." However, a champion like Taliyah doesn't have any options beyond the one launch skin.

Also, Lux's popularity in countries that celebrate Chinese New Year was a major factor in the decision, something Riot rarely admitted to in the past but seem more and more willing to throw in our faces more and more. (Here's a link to a statement by IAmCarlos, the Rioter who was in charge of the project.)

And, yes, it's BS that Jhin got three skins in 2017 when other champs didn't. Doesn't take the skins team off the hook for giving Lux this skin when other champs could have used the focus.

In their defense, people did complain about the Yi and Jhin skins when they happened, but I see where you're coming from. After all, we did get both Pug'Maw and Hextech Kog'Maw in the span of less than a year.

People on the boards hate the fact that Riot is still a business and needs to make business decisions. A skin for Asol is a terrible investment, but a skin for lux will almost always be a great one.

Yeah, this whole "Lux don't need anymore skins" thing is completely overblown. People make it seems like she has the most skins in the game. When in reality there are a good number of champs that beat her in that regard. This is her 8th skin. There are champs with 10 plus skins. Not to mention that 4 of her skins are low quality content & Lunar Empress is basically a legacy skin anyway. So that leaves only 3 high quality skins in her selection year round.

Honestly, now that I think about it. Maybe all of this outrage is a bit less about Lux getting another skin, but slighty more about another special event being centered around Lux or featuring Lux as the main character. Between Star Guardian 2016, Elementalist & now Lunar Revel, Lux has been featured in the event spotlight a decent amount recently. Hell, even the Demacia event & Star Guardian 2017 to a much lesser degree. Remember there was the whole Star Guardian story last year. While she wasn't the face of these events, she was still prominent. There aren't many champs made the lead of numerous events. Some gets to be the lead every few years or so. Many have yet to even lead an event or at least getting some of the event spotlight. Meanwhile Lux have recieved a high amount of the event love over the last 2 years. I guess some people are tired of Lux get. the spotlight.

You're comparing a 975 to a 3250.

A 9 7 5 to a 3 2 5 0

#A 975 to a 3250

Let that sink in. Lux had more effort put in her skin over the length of at least half a year-- not to mention she essentially got 9 more skins than Nasus. You're comparing 1 measly 975 skin to 10 at least 1350, if not 1820, skins? Nobody complains about Nasus bc his skin is allowed. Why, you may ask? It's the Year of the fucking Dog. Unless you're insinuating that Lux is a bitch (her Q does make a convincing argument), she doesn't fit. Even with the Empress excuse. Karma could EASILY fit the bill more.

The issue doesn't lie in how many she has, but how short the duration between the skins she recieves them is. Same with Ahri and Ezreal and Yi and Jhin.

As for your Jhin/Yi comment, did you forget that Esports/Worlds skins do not count towards the schedule? Just because SKT Jhin is a skin doesn't change the fact that it doesn't count towards his skin count/schedule. That's like saying Zed didn't have to wait three fucking years since 2012 to get PROJECT just because he had SKT. Sure, he got SKT, but only because Ahri didn't. It wasn't even a quality skin, just like the rest of the Worlds skins at the time, and it wasn't even fucking part of his schedule. Had Ahri gotten hers, Zed would have gone 3 fucking years without a skin. T h r e e fucking years. This would have been unless Riot decided to clump PROJECT: Yasuo with the PROJECT event releasing them all much earlier to accomodate, but even then, I doubt they had the PROJECT skinline fully figured out at the time with all the skin candidates and the story.

Nobody forgot that Yi got two skins in 2017-- in fact, the Boards were up in arms about it. Same with Jhin-- however, at least Jhin's skins had close to a year in between them. BMoon was released somewhere in Feb '17 with PROJECT around November or December? I don't recall. Regardless, that's a good 9-10 month gap, unlike Yi's 4/5 month gap. _**

tl;dr

People are shitting all over Riot because Lux didn't need to get the skin, but got it regardless despite already getting an Ultimate not too long before (which was comprised of 10 skins in one). Esports skins don't count, so Jhin technically got one skin near the start of 2017 and near the end of '17, but everyone continued to shit on him along with Yi, who had a 4/5 month gap between his skins.

My problem with it is how it doesn't make immediate sense for her to even get a skin as part of this event, but then Riot puts in extra effort to fit her into it thematically, but then every idiot and their mother says "Oh, X champion doesn't fit the skin line they can't have that skin!" Like it's only ok for Riot to use their heads for cash cow champions ONLY.

Not even Riot's fault why I hate Lux skins, it's everyone that has double standards or short-sighted views on an inherently creative aspect of the game. It does not make sense for Lux to have the skin with just her as a character and the context of her lore, but Riot explained how it CAN be made to make sense from a certain perspective. Too few people see other ideas in the same light except when it comes to popular champs.

Dead Anime Dad2/11/2018, 12:51:32 AM2 votes

Lux already has plenty of skins, one of which being an ultimate. Though I feel the main complaint with this skin is that it resembles elemental so much that it comes off as a poor man's elemental.

The Soulforged2/11/2018, 12:07:09 AM2 votes

Because she has a large amount of skins that are good.

Sukishoo2/11/2018, 3:17:08 AM1 votes

They do that all the time when popular champs get new skins xD It's like looking back at Sona, she got DJ and then a few months later she got Sweetheart.

Primaquarius2/10/2018, 10:28:25 PM1 votes

People dont understand how hard it is to make canon concepts for champions like Yorick, Sol, etc, because they have such a narrow niche

Killaburn2/11/2018, 6:59:12 AM1 votes

I agree, some of those who says that are bandwagoners or trolls.

An opinion from a lux main btw :)

People compalined about similaritys to Elemtalist Lux and the New Lux skin too and i ask me: What exactly is the diffrence between Worldbreaker Nasus and the new Nasus Skin? Sure, one is Brazil, the other China, but that makes not much of a diffrence. maybe it could be thought that 2018 is the year of the dag, why make end of 2016 a Brazil nasus too? To answer that, ofcourse Nasus is a popularchampion, same as lux. So making a Skin for Nasus or an ultimate skin for Lux makes Sense. On the otherside the 2018 theme was clear: 2 dogs/guardians and a princess/god of light. And sry for the fans who wanted an aurelion sol skin, but lux stays for light, sol for stars adn dragons. So next year of the dragon would be 2024, but i suppose there will be other chances where sol can get a skin.

WiFiXMaster5/2/2019, 3:42:51 PM1 votes

For fucks sake, lux gets a skin in like every 4-5 months. It makes sense that some champions have a bigger fan base and they should get more skins but it is a tactic used to Rito to stuff their pockets. Some champions like Jayce got a new skin after a whole year while his new battle academia skin is not even ultimate even though it is better than pulsefire ezreal.

SanKakU2/11/2018, 12:08:22 AM1 votes

Including the new skin, Lux only has what, 10 decent skins? And they are literally all tied into the Elementalist Lux skin. IMHO the new skin is not even solid. I picked up Elementalist Lux because their track record for making Lux skins has been bad IMO. Looks like this new skin is just them going back to their roots.

Why some people still complain about Lux getting a new skin ?

eheheh Ahri ,i know what you mean

another things that boards never consider,is how old is the champion if X champion got relased 5 years before Y champion, wonder who'll have more skins?

stopmakingmemad2/11/2018, 3:12:01 AM1 votes

The lux skin is fucking hideous to boot
