Speculation Thread: The focus of future lore

Ok, now simply assuming that the lore team will actually deliver and stuff (we had that discussion way too often here, so let's just skip this ok?)

League features a broad cast of characters, different factions all over and outside Runeterra. If you want to tell a story that pushes the entire world forward and cause massive progression, you need a massive "starting point", something that influences all (or at leats most of the champions) or will at least cause them to take part in it in one or the other way.

When I looked at the latest releases of champions, all of them are what I'd like to call "Big players" in their world, each of them following their own agenda. Bard is pretty much some kind of god, Kalista's power level unimaginable for she's a collective entinity made of souls (it would make sense to classify her as a one-person-undead-army), Azir is a emperor and absolute ruler over an entire region (sand-bender in the desert = OP). And Braum is even an candidate for an Ice-Born (other theories take his title "Heart of the Freljord" literally, making him the Protective Ghost of the region given flesh).

The only other 2 champions after Braum are Gnar and Rek'Sai: both two characters that have ZERO own agenda and ar emost likely to be simply "caught up" in whatever situation might arrise while on the other hand having enough power to level entire cities (pretty much the concept of the enraged Hulk)

Ah no, there's also Vel'Koz. Void related, so also comparable to Bard in some kind of way.

I get the feeling that right now they are trying to get their "figures on the field", for whatever is to come. We aren't getting any "normal" champs right now and the next one seems to be some kind of time-lord (if going by the rumors about Ekko). No simple humans like Quinn for example...

But... what will this be? It has to be something way bigger than just Shurima or something - that was just some badly executed prologue. Like that trash first Captn America film before the first Avengers movie ^^

Ok, we got some hints to what it could be: it has to be an event of global scale, so it kinda focuses it down to a few possibilities:

1.) Void Invasion: The probably most apocalyptic scenario, probably not going to happen anytime soon since this will screw over everything HARD even if it can be thrown back. But you can't stop the Void, nor defeat it.

2.) Time. Yes, actually it's that simple. Think in ways of comic books: some good (and quite apocalyptic plots) have come from time travel. With the new champ possibly going there it might go down that road. Actually this would be quite a nice way to solve the retcon mess: Old Lore = Old Timeline, something bad happens and someone travels back in time and changes the history of runeterra so the IoW gets never founded. I might just wonder what role Zilean would play with all this. And if the old clock tower of Urtistan might become important again... (Oh hell, this would even open up a story line to champs meeting their "other selfes" from the other timeline. At least it would explain mirror matches then...)

3.) War. Well, Demacia and Noxus have the potential to toss Valoran into a world war, Noxus is already involved in Ionia if that's still canon, Piltover and Zaun are heating up the conflict while being rivals to each other, in the south Azir is reviving his once might empire, in the north the Frostguard prepares it's schemes beneath the veil of civil war. And we STILL got the shadow iseles expanding their sphere of influence with every Harrowing (the black mist getting stronger every year). The peace in runeterra is very fragile, and it surely won't take much to toss this into total chaos - especially when there are forces hidden behind it (Like the Darkin who seem to like messing with history.)

4.) One individual threatening to destroy the world. Yepp, sound cheesy, let me change the wording: one super"villain" trying to CHANGE the world. Viktor and possibly Xerath fall into that category. Both of them have an understanding of bringing humanity to "another level", be it steel or ascension. I can see Xerath being the kind of guy that should say "Everyone shall ascend like me for true freedom" - compared to Azir who only says that the "Ascended shall guide humanity". I'm not sure if a former slave would like that mindset...

Oh and of course Veigar. If we go by cheesy destroy-the-world plots he's a top candidate.

5.) Shadow Iseles. Simple as that. Strangely we don't even know what they plan or if they even are the "bad guys"... the dead might know something we don't...

6.) ????????????

I have no idea. Feel free to throw in your own ideas, I'm curious what all could be ^^

HEY Veigar doesn't want to "destroy" the world... he wants to rule it. You cant rule something if you destroy that first.

And i heard a rumor about Ekko being a black kid.
