I don't understand why Riot never adds some of the submissions in these contests into the game. People basically make a new model for them but they don't use it. Just pay them the fair share and VU is basically done.

They could make a flat purchase instead of agreeing to royalties. Something like one of these would be maybe $100 USD at the absolute most, though I don't know what they pay their in-house artists.

The real reason they don't use these, I think, is that Riot isn't particularly great at optimizing their game. New SR runs great for me, but they evidently didn't test it well enough because I think some people are still having framerate issues from it. Until it came out I rarely got over 30. (Though 30 is usually fine for LoL.) League doesn't run nearly as well as such a low-poly game should, (It IS low-poly compared to Dota/Smite. Heroes in Dota are typically around 3k triangles.) and that's an issue they need to resolve before they can look into improving visual fidelity.

If they can do it for Dota 2/CS:GO, they can do it for LoL. Heck, Team Fortress 2 has been doing this for years.

Heck, there was a TF2 Polycount contest and winning entries were added to the game.

Maybe, maybe not. Before I upgraded, my computer could run LoL on decent settings, but I had to play Dota 2 at its bare minimum to get by.
