Thoughts of Skins: Urgot

Back again. Been busy. Started college. Had rough night. Many annoyances here. Falling out of League. Too taxing on energy, emotions, etc. Let's get on with it now.

Since not that many people offered suggestions in the last discussion, the only one that was suggested was Urgot, so we'll do him (thank you Chembaron Yamada).

Now, Urgot is somewhat of an interesting topic, since a lot of people will bring up his disconnect of his old disgusting look to his "cleaner" look. I say that since he isn't exactly fully polished up, like say Pantheon or Taric, but he's more updated to a cleaner look on what he's suppose to represent, similar to say GP.

The downside to this though is that people usually associated him with a disgusting looking champ, similar to Yorick who went through a similar ordeal. Personally, I don't mind his new look. It's nice, it still gives this meanacing, disgusting feel, and it was a pretty OK(ish) rework overall (we're not going to talk about balance). Yet, I can also understand people's frustrations on how Riot is somewhat removing disgusting champs from their game and they have to, in some way, look appealing and not some abomination. Kind of why I'm a bit worried when they get around to Mundo for a rework they'll take that away from him as well. Nevertheless, Urgot can have a good range of possibilities in front of him since he was reworked and can bring some uniqueness to the character.

Current Skin Roster:

  • Butcher - serial killer/Leatherface reference
  • Giant Enemy Crabgot - previous B movie monster now repurposed for Kaiju type reference
  • Battlecast - Robot/his ultimate dream form
  • High Noon - COWBOY!!!

Now with his current list established, here's a few ideas off the top of my head:

  • Harrowing themed skin - could be a bit of an amalgamation of various body parts, somewhat similar to Abominations from Warcraft. Give more of that original look back to him in some form.
  • Dark Star - very popular skin among the community. Ult is perfect, nice space theme to Urgot, it can work. If not...
  • Dreadnova - Kind of an interesting Space Raiders feel to him. Maybe more of less make him hover, shoot lasers from his knees.
  • Ironside/Bilgewater theme skin - Legs are from different ships, cannons in his knees, anchor and shark for his ult. I can see potential of him in this line.

And before someone brings it up, sure Star Guardian Urgot_ could_ happen (even though Riot kicked people in the balls with that interaction) UNDER ONE CONDITION! He has to be a main villain. Yeah, I get the joke of the uglist champ becoming this kawaii, magical girl but I never thought it was that great of a joke. I honestly would rather see him more on the villain side of things. That's my opinion though.

Anyways, that's just my thoughts on the matter but what are yours? Agree with some points? Have some of your own? Discuss them down below and hope to maybe see another one of these next weekend (if I'm still motivated to tie myself to League) and we'll try a look at....um.....*sigh *, fuck it, I'll do it to get him out of the way. Good suggestions, I can see all of them working for him. I especially like the Dreadnova and Ironside skin ideas.

And I completely agree with your analysis of the Star Guardian Urgot situation. He can just become part of that universe if they make him some ancient space horror which the Star Guardians are supposed to fight some day, but Riot should not dare to give in to the meme of putting him in that line as a magical girl. It would ruin both, the Star Guardians and Urgot.

Now I want to add some own suggestions here:

Zombie Urgot I want the zombie and slayer skins to return so badly. I can definitely see him working in that line, especially since Nunu has already proven that these zombies are allowed to have additional limbs and technology added to them. I know, he already has a Halloween skin with Butcher Urgot (btw, does that get out of the legacy vault on Halloween or is this skin always unavailable?), but Katarina also has got 2 Halloween skins, so that is no hindrance. And he just works so well with horror thematics.

Mafia Urgot Urgot was part of the Mafia splash arts in the past already, before his rework. And there is a well known concept art for it on the internet. https://78.media.tumblr.com/04e97e19ff9c51f76d13bb7090d09f85/tumblr_oyczo8pXMi1rzi3oko1_1280.png It is also a great hommage for his early concepts for the rework, which first intended to make him a mafia boss (chembaron, but his clothing also really fit the mafia aesthetic).

Bloodmoon Urgot Make him a demon from the Bloodmoon universe. With his bulky body, I could see him having some reference in appearance to sumo ringers? Would also work well with his E. Could throw out a big kunai instead of his drill.

Grill Chef Urgot A skin on the joke side of the spectrum. Make him a chef alongside Tahm Kench in a restaurant. His drill could be a skewer pulling you in his grill.

Boneyard Urgot Another Halloween skin idea (just want to provide some options). Urgot is an abomination made out of bones of different creatures. For example, his cannon arm is instead the skull of a dragon. He is shooting blue "wisps" (ghostly energy). His ultimate could make him open up a huge ripcage and the rips are moving like teeth, instead of his meatgrinders.

Honestly I feel that Star Guardian Urgot could only work is if he was one of those monsters similar to the event or as a legendary skin where he is a Star Guardian who is corrupted by the Dark Star. I feel like he would be better has just Dark Star but if he was a SG DS he would be a cool concept done right and maybe they could have that Star Guardian recall thing where you here the woman singing it could be remixed into a sinister Dark Star maybe with Thresh and other Dark Stars laughing?
